Yup. When I need to explain how fucked up my mother is I just say the court gave my dad full custody. Ends the whole conversation.

Ah yes takes me back to college when we were discussing single parents and I mention single fathers, as I myself was raised by one and saw him face many problems more unique to well..single fathers. I was shut down immediatley by both male feminist professor and every woman in the room and told that was not a real problem.

They make a post somewhere that says sorry vloggers we didn't realize how great for business you were until we realized we could go viral in this way and not have to actually give you anything for free. So it's a win/win for them. They don't lose paying customers and they get free advertising and look edgy which I'm sure fits great with all the spending customers who hate this "millennial freeloading."

I wonder about this. I see quite a few people in this position and feel their subscribers use them more to "live out a fantasy", "#goals" but would never spend the money to do these things. It's also really deceptive, I think it's only recent on Instagram that these people have to identify themselves as advertisers or in partnerships. It's just the next generation of unattainable standards.

The Lego video games are great fun and there's a neat multiplayer they could do together. We're adults and we still love playing those Lego games.

Saying "it sounds like we'll be homeless.." is you saying you can't trust him. If you want him to take the lead you have to let him. You can't sit in the passengers seat and constantly try to grab over, take the controls, and then wonder why he can't drive effectively.

On top of everything that's already been covered you're talking about having to deceptively and artificially bring about a situation hoping to force the issue of spending time together with this guy.

Just beware, this backfired on me years ago. It ended up somewhat hurting him because he felt 1) what was already mentioned (wouldn't we do this anyway) and 2) by pulling out whatever coupon that he was presenting a chore and not something we'd actually want to do - I'd be doing something out of obligation and this would take away from the fun. I think it'd be better to just plan an activity or excursion or have a little list of ideas and just bust them out at the right time.

My partners culture it's an honor to use full names, in mine it's bad luck to name someone after the deceased especially - so we use first letter. Maybe you can take initials like someone else mentioned or just the first letter.

Kinda small but very big thing for me, I haven't pulled out any of my hair in seven days (I have "untreated" trich/ocd). In 20 + years I haven't gone a day without going at my hair. Starting to go to the climbing gym with boyfriend. It'll be good motivation for me to work out on the side because I want to build strength and stamina to be better t the wall.

You say that but then you say stuff that doesn't jive if I'm reading right. You have insecurities that you'll plan something that won't be fun so you don't offer anything. (?) Offer a suggestion worse he says is no or yes and it's awful and you all find ways to laugh about it. Second point, if you want to be okay with it then be okay with it because you are the only one who can make peace with your own frustration.

Funny you should post this because I've been thinking about the puppet analogy in a different way. I've brought it up before but it's not a secret I'm a former addict and friend of Bill. Anyway, there's a piece that comes up in some of the literature that basically that the addict is in a power struggle wanting to be the puppeteer, the puppet master, the stage hand; essentially we want to control the whole show. This is a principle I have kept in mind when applying RP principles to my life becau…

I think it's best to be open and honest. It's not a first date conversation but if you're serious then yeah it would be worth bringing up in the way partners might share their past struggles/story/experiences. Framing is partly going to depend on where you are in life with what happened to you. I had a bad experience several years before my current boyfriend. I did tell him pretty early on but I think we were talking about something related and it just kind of came up in conversation. He's share…

Lately I feel like our relationship has been great but I can feel myself failing in maybe one of the most important aspects. I'm failing at being myself. I feel uninspired, unmoved, and unmotivated. Since moving to this new area and just kind of change of lifestyle and surroundings I have no idea what to do with myself. All I do is go to work, come home. Eat, sleep, repeat. Surely I must be the most boring person in the world to know - let alone date. My boyfriend is getting in to all this neat …

This is what I do too (the bottom half). My SO has very specific and technical stuff he needs for travel so I stay far away from it, but overall I think this is best practice anyway because from my experience (dad and boyfriend both travel a lot) packing is a methodical and person thing. I say focus on making the home better than when he left so he settles into a relaxing enjoyable environment after stressful traveling. (extra cleaning, treats, a good meal, whatever it may be). Honestly, it's go…

This post got me thinking about something I've been trying to work on. When my SO says, "I don't care" I want to get frustrated but that is him making a choice. It's him deciding that whatever I'm asking an opinion on is too trivial for him to care about, not in his realm, etc and therefore it's my decision.

If I'm really down/angry I take some minutes to myself, maybe go for a walk with some music in. On the outside I make a lot of jokes about misfortunes, I just tell myself if you're not laughing you're crying. So I opt to laugh it off. Boyfriend has only seen me cry twice in four years. Once involuntarily from physical pain, the other from overwhelming frustration and I just walked outside. Life will throw punches at you, some of them will feel like K.O.s but nothing is really that serious, life …

After months of debate, scholarly research, and several symposiums I think we've all come to the conclusion you do whatever you and your partner want, and agree to, in the confides of your relationship. My thought is you should lurk the sidebar if you're actually curious and see what RPW is actually focused on.

To take a phrase from the red pill men, acta non verba. I told my boyfriend about red pill, framing it as, "this is a thing I've been reading that I find interesting" and he said, "isn't that those guys that fuck bitches and hate women?" That was the end of that discussion. But then I started acting differently. I took on a new mindset and started treating him and our relationship differently. He took notice, followed my lead, and then took the lead in a huge way. He orchestrated a move, got us …

I think whatever gets you energized. When I'm home alone and doing housework there is all kinds of raunchy trap music, mix tapes, and just down right nasty coming out of my speakers. If I'm driving in no traffic, metal. If I'm driving in high traffic, pop music. By the time my boyfriend comes home, audiobooks. I get what you're asking about thematic songs but if music makes you feel some type of way go with the stuff that's keeping you upbeat and energized.

First thing I wonder is how does she respond to any of his "critiques?" Did he try to be open and she flies off the handle? You said that you suspect he tries to avoid conflict, why should his "dissent" cause conflict? Did he previously try to tell her something and she reacted poorly causing him to not even bother anymore? This is something I had to improve upon. My boyfriend wouldn't want to tell me things, "because he didn't want me to be mad/sad/upset" For my part I had to work to create a s…

I was meeting my friend's boyfriend who was one of (my now guys) roommates. My guy was the only one with a TV in his dorm room so me, my friend, and her boyfriend were in there watching something. I was looking around dude's room (he was at a show or something) and I said I get this guy, we're going to end up dating. Fast forward to later, he came back (still didn't know it was his room) and we were outside talking over cigarettes and he said something about some obscure band and I liked them to…

I don't remember that really being the issue. We more just learned about body functions, diseases, and an unmarried pregnant woman came in with her other two children in two and said "don't be me". I can't really imagine menopause/infertility being brought up to a bunch of young kids because they would barely to be able to comprehend life at 40. I just knew my mom was born after her parents were over 40 and she said it was miserable so I said if I ever had kids it would be younger than that.

You're listing all the textbook things you do for him and those are great but he's telling you exactly what he wants and needs. As I see it you only choice is to open your mind and explore it with him or let him be with someone who is into that type of stuff. It's not wrong if you're not but sexuality compatibility is a make it or break it deal, at least in my opinion. Neither of you should have to compromise your needs and desires. You'll have to think long and hard about if this is for you.

The only choice for you to make is this partner or this hobby. I'm going to dissent and say somebody might find rowing to be attractive. Perhaps another rower may enjoy having a partner that also rows. Who knows? The fact is, that's not your partner. If you want to continue a relationship with this partner you will have willingly give up rowing. If you would rather be tied to rowing then you'll have to give up this partner because he's clearly not a partner who values rowing. What you cannot do …

Good point on the friends especially! My closest friends know not to hug me, it's like a running joke between us. I think he would definitely love if I played with his hair. When we're hanging out I usually keep some space out of comfort but I guess I'm gonna have to transcend some boundaries to make him happy. I like the idea about writing notes. I try to do it once in a while in his lunchbox but I should do it more frequently and in other places because I know he enjoys it and because of our jobs we actually don't see each other much so that's a really neat way to keep affection up from a distance. Thanks for the words of encouragement. It's very true, I need to practice at it. Sometimes I just frustrated because he'll get upset and it'll have occurred to me too late that I should've done something. Good point about the words too, I'm usually pretty quiet. I express gratitude really well to let others know I appreciate them but as far as vulnerable situations I'm more of a joke and deflect so I don't have to be honest about how i feel I guess.

Remember you are nobody's universe and be grateful for it. When someone wants and needs you around all the time you are not their partner you are their crutch. That's not healthy. Embrace the space! Take that time when you're giving each other space to keep bettering yourself or doing things you like, join a meetup (I picked up a book club). I try to evaluate my issue first. If I'm really having trouble evaluating what I've done a few times is go to the side bar and look at the questions before posting. I fill that out as honestly as possible and read it back. Usually I realize my issue isn't really an issue at all or that I can adjust my role and the issue will resolve itself. If it is a two person issue I proceed to bring it up as a discussion instead of an argument.

My mom is in a class of her own. She left when I was a little kid because she didn't want to be a parent and then she started coming in and out of my life in my late teens until I made the choice to cut her off. I used to think that made me defective, that she passed on all the bad genes and I was damaged goods by virtue of being her child. I also worried for a long time that I couldn't be a "good woman" because I never had a female role model. I still don't really have a female role model but t…

I don't have any advice but I'm here in solidarity. My boyfriend has a very mentally and physically taxing job with poor management that he absolutely hates. He frequently shares with me really harsh, hard to digest feelings about his work situation. I tend to feel guilty because I don't make enough money for him to just quit and find something different. Sometimes there's just too much bad blood and hurt feelings to be able to forgive and forget. This may be a case of too little too late but the worst thing you can do is impose any more of yourself on him. If he says he's done, believe it. Let him go with his space and whatever dignity you have to muster. Start and keep working on yourself. Needed that glass houses reminder because it is easy to forget! i know if it's a close friend I tend to reframe what they're saying and bring up the other side of the disagreement. Definitely true! Everything I've learned and thought about has really forced me to challenge myself. I can't tolerate sitting around wasting time, I can't tolerate any kind of mediocrity. I know a big flaw of mine has always been that I hold others to whatever standard I hold myself to. In work, relationships, friendships, etc. As I increase my standards I see that come out negatively on how I perceive others. You can be a perfect 10 on the outside but if you're a pain in the ass or ugly on the inside no decent guy is going to put up with your shit. Pretty girls are a dime a dozen you need to be all around an all around great catch. You have admitted to have some inner turmoil so I'd focus on that. When my partner and I met two of his former plates were all up in our shit. It annoyed the hell out of me but I had to remind myself that I was special because as soon as we met he dropped them and made me …

I have to fashion on a budget so Ross dresses are super cute it's hit or miss though. I go to a Goodwill in a really nice part of town for my professional blouses. I also sometimes find good cheap stuff at H&M and I swear by Target v-necks for my beat around shirts, more feminine than most t-shirts and still sensible/functional .

"Makes me wonder what he's doing with me." From what you've said it doesn't sound like she has a sparkling personality to go with those sparkling looks. Why would he want to be with someone who said he was boring? That's really rude to tell someone. Then she got married and divorced and now he's not so boring anymore? Your boyfriend isn't dumb, don't let jealousy or dread make you ugly. If you're really worried just step up your game a little bit keep being a good person but always strive to be …

I've always said I never realized I was oppressed until feminism told me I was and I stand by that. I think our culture grossly overcompensates for history, when I do believe there was a time that being a woman was no great shakes. Now, my degree is in religion where women play an interesting role there and you could argue some oppression exists in certain denominations of each religion. Politically, I'm personally not sure how I feel about all the about reproductive rights arguements and it see…

Well honestly there was no real "smoking gun." Something interesting that came up was that when she told the story he called her about coming over and she said "no way, what would my boyfriend think" When my boyfriend told the story he did go over to her house to kill time before he went to the airport for work. I took everything to heart that everyone said and I had to make a call. He's never given me a reason to not trust him but she has. When I first met her she made comments about how it stu…

Thanks for the way you laid it out! I mentioned it in a later post but after reflecting and taking everything in both my SO and I have decided that this girl is not somebody that I, or he, needs in our lives. She has a long history of stirring the pot in this group of friends and my SO has no history of any shady behavior with or before me. Ten years from now I'd rather be laughing about this with my partner then having a half assed friendship with a half assed friend. He and I talked about it a…

This is a scary, spot on assessment of who this person is. I really needed to read it layed out this way. After assessing everything everyone said, thinking hard, and talking it over, my SO and I have decided her warped fantasy world is a very real and very scary thing we need not be a part of.

We do have sex every day, I'm not sure how fulfilling it is every time but he seems happy about it. If I believed the scenario I'd assume he's emotional cheating teetering on physical. But when I type it out it sounds too ridiculous.

Part of my position is I don't think he'd cheat on me but even more so I don't think he'd sleep with his oldest, closest friend's girlfriend. Good point.

She kind of does, the kind of person who could be at your funeral and manage to make it about her. She got passed around this group of guys, turned most of them against each other and ended up with the last guy she hadn't yet slept with. She's not the best apple but I've always tried to be accepting of her because she was a weird friend of this group that I came in to. Didn't ever want to be crazy new girlfriend about her. I might have to start though.

I actually deleted a bunch of stuff because I was afraid of being long winded. We've been together 3 1/2 years. We've been having a little bit of a rough patch but nothing too crazy just a little bit of a lull and some strain in both of our personal lives. If I thought something was amiss she really wouldn't be the person that came to mind. She used to hook up with my partner in the long, long ago. She's been dating his good friend for about 2 years. My gut doesn't believe her but I am thrown of…

From what you're saying it sounds like you may be the one fixated on her. You've got to quiet that destructive little voice in your brain that's running about this girl. As others have mentioned if you weren't pleasing to him he wouldn't be spending his precious time with you. If he is fixated on this one particular girl that's a different story and his hang up not yours. Just make sure your brain isn't warping reality.

I love this advice! I know this bites me in the behind I don't even know why I'm apologizing half the time. Someone bumped in to me the other day (no big deal at all) and I found myself apologizing for being in a place they could bump into me.

Great point! This is something I have to work on I say thank you but I don't internalize it and I'm sure that reflects. I also feel obligated to compliment back and that probably comes off as fake sometimes. I do mean it but I wouldn't have said anything if I wasn't already engaged by someone.

I totally agree. I have a few friends that I already know, they're only asking how are you because they want to tell me how they're doing. Kills me.

Sorry I wasn't very clear. Or maybe this just doesn't make sense. I went from being outspoken to over compensating and becoming a bit of a doormat. I don't share my views anymore, I'm really passive. I apologize for everything even for no reason. My dad actually pointed it out I forget concerning what but he said to me, "you don't stand up for yourself." I realize he's right. I want to speak with certainty, confidence. Share my opinion when it's valuable to do so but I'm worried of being too for…

I just see the word misogyny as not contributing anything to TRP. It's just one of those buzzwords anti-redpill people people say as a knee jerk reaction to pretty much anything in that sub. I'm not a cum dumpster because I choose not to be. Don't want to be one? It's a personal choice. Know you're not one? Don't flinch when someone says it in TRP. I'm totally for them banning people who complain about stuff like that because it doesn't contribute anything at all.

So for the first thing I've almost always been in long distance relationships or situations that required me to bring a little over night backpack/bag. Maybe you could throw some cute clothes in there, it's a quick fix to a fairly simple request. The rest is honestly kind of strange. I'm going to let someone more capable because I can't respond objectively. Here's why; the way I think he's either right and you should work on brushing yourself up or there's more to this then you can or are willin…

The way this post reads is really emotionally driven. Are you sure your thinking and speaking objectively? So what if he wants to live with guys? It's not something to take personal it's just what he wants to do right not and that's totally cool. It's not your place or right to judge his "immature friends" that's actually pretty rude/mean spirited. If he doesn't like you wearing his clothes then don't. I don't buy or wear clothes without my boyfriend in mind after all he has to look at me all da…

I'm not classy enough to tell you a classy way to say it but I'm going to comment on the type of people you're worried about. Someone who you've blocked and is not taking a hint is rude, you don't need to be nice to him just direct and forceful. Somebody who is reaching out to you after some dates over some period of time. What is his motivation? Obviously nothing positive and what difference would it make. Are you trying to maintain a relationship with this person? I doubt it. If you are, you s…

I don't think that's an unfair thing to want and more importantly it shows you have learned from your mistakes and grown from them. I always aim to be upfront and candid about anything from my past. I own my mistakes and have made amends with myself and my partner. He sees beyond that and knows that I am not the same foolish person I was. Nothing about the past can be undone but it does not have to define your future. Best of luck to you.

I just want to comment on your wording because it comes off as you're thinking in extremes. "Wants me for me and not just my body". That wording sounds like there's no middle ground between virgin and giving it up left and right when there definitely is. My partner and I like each other's personalities just fine and we enjoy having sex. I used to say I wanted to wait till marriage and things shifted in my life and mind that made me change my position so to be clear, more power to you! I just wan…

I actually cannot stand beards but I read a pretty interesting article about how the new found interest in beards might be related to evolution. Basically, beards went out of style and became a "rare" and therefore appealing trait. Soon it'll swing to clean shaven being "rare" and continue cycling. I don't know that there's any stock in the idea but I thought it was interesting and your comment reminded me of it.

I was partially joking, I always thought from the side my chin was a little funky now I know. I don't wear any makeup (per life choices and SO's encouragement) but was looking up on haircuts because I do need one anyway. Now I have a little game plan about what direction to take my hair. If off the top of your head any good resources stick out I would love to read up on them.

For better or worse my best friends are our two cats. I agree, I am passionate about animals and think anyone who can should adopt or at least volunteer with animals! As for the bedroom, that's a very interesting comment. It's not something I'll really go into but I make sure he goes to bed happy. I might go to bed a little..uh hungry.. but I get that he's so tired after traveling all week so I just push that away. There's definitely a discrepancy between need and want though. Crafts are super intimidating me but I think they'd be a great way for me to get better at self expression because I'd get to visualize and see something to completion. I may have to conquer my fear of needles and thread. Thanks for the suggestion!

My dad has always given me the best advice I may not have realized it until way later. My now favorite thing, at the time it drove me crazy, is to "just stick to the facts". When my sister and I would fight, when I was upset about anything he would tell me in a court of law only facts matter. Stick only to what happened not how you feel or think you feel. Now, I use it a little differently. I try very hard to not respond to anything when I am any kind of emotional. I leave the situation alone an…
