yes. I will answer ones that are fun or interesting to reflect on but I'm mostly doing it for my own benefit. and a bit to share with other women

the most explicit and specific pressure I felt to get married came from my husband lol. pressure to have kids comes occasionally from my parents but it's not too bad I think otherwise "pressure" is just the general expectation that you will be following that life script, because most people do. that comes out in various ways, like people expressing surprise/dismay if you say you're not getting married/aren't interested in kids

for me it's not so much wondering why men would have a preference for thin women, more like why do some of them seem to be so upset about it. like righteously offended that a fat person might exist and pursue sex/relationships

I hope you do too

return the stare without blinking. I repeat DO NOT BLINK, this is very important then continue to stare until she looks away. only way to establish dominance

if so, that's when you ghost ;)
/r/PurplePillDebate15/10/20 08:12 PM

it's at least more direct. ghosting might seem kinder initially but they'll end up getting the same message either way btw no guarantee this person won't freak out at you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ be ye warned!

hey I don't feel a romantic connection here but I've enjoyed talking. wish you well, etc
/r/PurplePillDebate15/10/20 08:03 PM

yes that's probably true I doubt anyone would jump straight to divorce though. unless maybe they're already super hardline anti-porn types

women who don't play video games are not going to care whether or not it's a BotW clone
/r/PurplePillDebate13/10/20 05:07 PM

just ask "women are you bothered by men playing horny video games" that's all you needed to type

not that it's common by any stretch but I have met one guy who bragged about his wealth like this. I'm sure it works sometimes
/r/PurplePillDebate06/10/20 04:07 PM

that seems like a pretty good reason, as dog-shooting rationales go

when I say the study was overblown, I don't necessarily mean that they got the numbers wrong (although the lack of demographic info makes it hard to know how representative their samples were), I mean the reporting around their findings was really sensationalized. that 23-30% was mostly people who had done it once or rarely, not women who regularly accepted dates for food. If we're talking about the latter, I'd guess it's less than 1%
/r/PurplePillDebate29/09/20 10:10 PM

that article was overblown too. that ny post headline is especially bad lol

lol. I dunno, I definitely don't do it that often
/r/PurplePillDebate22/09/20 02:14 PM

it's a nice impulse but I think it would be smart to keep more of a cushion than just 5k - hard to predict what might happen in the future. and/or look into setting up ongoing support for some charities rather than giving it all away at once either way if you decide to go ahead with this, definitely don't just drop it in the mail. discuss it with her first
/r/PurplePillDebate22/09/20 03:29 AM

what about major medical emergencies? or your own family/friends?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/09/20 02:45 AM
1

yes I understand math, thanks for the genuine question I'm arguing that men and women's standards for most day-to-day chores are not so different as to cause a big disparity in time spent doing housework
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/20 08:44 PM
0

I'm not hyper-focusing, it's an example illustrating a principle that I think generally applies to the aggregate. same goes for laundry etc I honestly do not believe a substantial amount of adult men would prefer paper plates/wearing dirty underwear, but if you've got receipts for that let me know lol. eating out of the pan sure, everyone does that when they're alone but you can't when you're making food for 2+ people lol
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/20 08:12 PM

The extent to which are largely a preference I don't think I agree with that. whether you prefer to do the dishes every night or let them build up for a month before tackling it, it's still gonna take around the same amount of time overall
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/20 07:37 PM
4

that might apply for some things sure, like if I feel like I MUST mow the lawn every 3 days that's arguably on me as an individual. but the bulk of chores, the regular, everyday drudge stuff like dishes and laundry and making food and buying groceries are not a matter of preference
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/20 07:31 PM
1

I don't think that reflects reality for your average heterosexual couple. most households are dual income at this point
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/20 07:23 PM
3

you get paid for actual work. not so much for housework
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/20 06:49 PM
1

I think the good/bad label often gets stamped on things retroactively. and how much distance you have from the breakup makes a big difference. like if you just got dumped and are feeling hurt you might write the whole thing off as bad and a waste of time but then a few years down the line, you reflect on it and decide that overall it was a positive experience (or at least you grew/learned something from it)
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/20 04:29 PM
1

ah. that was not a thing in my area lol
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/20 05:10 AM
1

that's awfully specific lol anyway I guess I just fundamentally disagree. if you never live with someone there are necessarily aspects of their personality and behaviour that you're just never going to see and formative moments that you won't share together. I'm not saying it's better, but you seem to agree at this point that it IS different - and some people want that specific experience
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/20 02:30 AM
1

what is guard?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/20 10:03 PM
1

it can't simultaneously be better and also the same lol. or you're saying that there is more intimacy among couples living apart than together?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/20 08:46 PM

that's ok, I'm not trying to convince you otherwise lol

I thought people took issue with the lyrics of "blurred lines" because of the perceived connection to rape apologia and the whole no-means-yes, asking for it vibe - not because they were overly sexual or graphic (which seems to be the main objection to WAP). I don't see the hypocrisy
/r/PurplePillDebate17/09/20 03:27 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/20 07:29 PM
1

and you would disagree that it's a qualitatively different experience than just dating someone without cohabitating? the level of intimacy is the same, in your view?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/20 04:37 PM
2

no, it's not the same. no shade but if you haven't lived with a romantic partner long-term you don't know what that level of intimacy is like. it has positives and negatives but either way, it's a different experience people want to experience that.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/20 04:24 PM
1

it saves you money. or at least it's always saved me money but for most people the reasoning is just that they want to have the level of physical and emotional closeness that comes with living together. that might not be a good reason for you, but it is for others
/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/20 04:02 PM

don't be sorry lol. no problem

Women don’t believe in condoms. No women will ever recommend, suggest or even ask a guy to wear one. Women take it as an insult - Fact. lol this is bananas. ime not wanting to use condoms is pretty much exclusively the purview of men mind you I'm old, so if some seismic shift has occurred to reverse this trend younger people plz weigh in

we had a park hangout with friends last weekend and someone brought a pair of those. they looked fun

this kind of denialism is wild to me. have you ever larped online as someone who proves *your personal worldview?

oh this is a neat design. thanks
/r/PurplePillDebate14/09/20 06:56 PM

can you recommend a good one of these? we had one at our old place and it kind of wrecked the doorframe
/r/PurplePillDebate14/09/20 05:42 PM
7

why would women who judge those kinds of men care about raising their own value to those same men? they have different values and they probably don't want to date them
/r/PurplePillDebate14/09/20 05:40 PM

they won't solve all your problems but they are a small kind of magic in the right context. I have some very dear memories being on shrooms with good people

right why would goofing around make them appear as if they are sluts
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/20 06:00 PM
3

what is the connection between goofing around and looking like sluts?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/20 05:43 PM
3

I feel kind of bad that people are shaming you for your goofy behaviour in this thread. yes it sounds obnoxious but everyone's personal brand of silliness with their friends probably comes off as obnoxious to non-initiates anyway I think that in general women do not do the physical clowning around stuff as much as men. as others have pointed out that's probably down to socialization. I have some very silly friends but it's mostly verbal silliness
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/20 05:28 PM

why wouldn't they admit it? what's to gain from lying about this
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/20 05:22 PM

hey psst pro-tip: read the study
/r/PurplePillDebate10/09/20 07:26 PM
18

important to note that it's not unmarried women who concocted the fake husbands, it's the researchers (based on a dataset of currently married people). And they aren't asking anyone to rate those fake husbands, they are simply comparing the fake husbands to actual unmarried men and commenting on disparities between them there is zero in here that gets directly at anyone's preferences or expectations -- which I will say is less of a critique of the article, more of the way it's being presented he…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/09/20 06:36 PM
3

but you understand that no women were actually asked anything about their willingness or expectations to marry in this study - right? the text of your OP is pretty flagrantly misleading on that front lol
/r/PurplePillDebate10/09/20 06:35 PM
2

it's nowhere in the full article that I can see. the methods don't involve asking anyone anything about their preferences at all. what they did is looked at a cohort of currently married couples and used that information to construct "likely demographic profiles" of men that unmarried women today might marry, assuming their preferences match those patterns (then compared those imputed demographics to actual unmarried men) did you understand this before posting? because I don't think a lot of the…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/09/20 06:20 PM

OP where did you get the 64%? is it from this article or somewhere else?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/09/20 05:56 PM
2

I don't know a single woman that has done the reverse. used to work in the social services and this does happen. but it's by no means a regular occurrence for men or women so kind of immaterial to this discussion imo

I feel your frustration but distancing yourself from them the way you did isn't likely to get the reaction you want unfortunately
/r/PurplePillDebate08/09/20 08:17 PM

ok how is "individual human" defined then? genetically? if you had to give a good explanation to a layperson what would you tell them?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/09/20 08:02 PM
2

lol. just a bit
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/20 11:47 PM

thanks this was helpful
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/20 06:59 PM
2

what makes it an individual human, to you?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/20 06:56 PM
3

what would be a non-arbitrary line in this case?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/09/20 06:47 PM
1

oh weird, I thought it meant like a fact that was true but also cynical/depressing. like a harsh truth
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/20 11:09 PM
2

maybe, but I thought the popular belief around here was that women lied about that to get (or avoid losing) commitment, not sex. if the arrangement was specifically sexual like a ONS then I doubt the other person would care very much or ask lol
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/20 04:41 PM
5

is women lying about their partner count to get men to have sex with them a thing?
/r/PurplePillDebate03/09/20 03:56 PM
12

seconding the q about "based". I thought I sort of knew what it meant but it doesn't make sense to me in this context
/r/PurplePillDebate02/09/20 07:00 PM
1

lol. I mean if they're in AA they were drunk at some point arguably that tendency sort of reinforces the idea of a connection between drugs and sex. When I was working with that population it was often interpreted as them swapping one addiction for another...kind of crude/simplistic but I believe there is a kernel of neurobiological truth there
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/20 08:04 PM
1

yeah I've observed this a bit with young people meeting in treatment-oriented spaces. can't say I would recommend it as a strategy for getting laid though lol
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/20 07:56 PM
3

hey I know that guy
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/20 07:31 PM

I haven't met anyone "better" but I've met people I could see myself dating. so has he. we like each other a lot and we appreciate what we have ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/20 01:59 PM

can confirm
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/20 04:13 PM

yes I want to be appreciated at least in part for my abilities and achievements. they're important to me and I want them to mean something to my partner
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/20 04:05 PM
13

it's rude to make explicitly sexual comments to strangers in (almost) every context. Just go with that rule of thumb and you will be fine. it's not going to harm you to refrain
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/20 04:02 PM

it's a process
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/20 05:53 PM

okay I thought insta-thot meant a women who actually makes money off of her followers money vs attention seems like a pretty big difference to me. why does it make no difference to you?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/20 04:51 PM
1

it's supposed to prompt you to explain, but you don't have to
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/20 04:49 PM
5

where are you seeing those articles? and aren't you blurring the lines a bit bringing up women who seek attention on social media? regular joes and janes aren't making money off their selfies or maybe it's me being confused about what the term "insta-thot" refers to?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/20 04:06 PM
2

how are they being exposed to it then?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/20 03:53 PM
3

how are they so well versed about this issue then lol. I have an instagram account and my only exposure to "insta-thots" is through this sub edit: well also through r/Instagramreality which is my new guilty pleasure. but which I also found through this sub lol
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/20 03:52 PM
3

I think the proof is that they seem to be very informed about "whores selling themselves on Insta". Don't you sort of have to be seeking that content out?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/20 03:27 PM
1

for some people that's probably true. for others maybe they feel most comfortable with their family or with their partner
/r/PurplePillDebate27/08/20 02:24 PM

I basically agree with this

well we could listen to those podcasts you mentioned I take issue with the idea of man-on-man interaction being the way men truly are. I act different when I'm around my parents vs my boss vs my friends vs my family vs my partner, because I'm human and I react to social cues and curate myself to some degree depending on the audience. but I'm still "me" in all those interactions. and I bet you some guys actually feel a lot more like themselves around their girlfriends than with their bros if what…

in my early 20s I went on a few quasi-dates with a guy who in my eyes was a lot more attractive than me, not just in looks but also very cool/charming while I was kind of a dork. I was super nervous around him whenever we hung out or talked on the phone, it made things awkward and eventually it fizzled out I like to think I would be a lot less intimidated by a situation like that now though

/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/20 01:28 AM

making friends, reaching out and connecting is not easy or natural for every woman. your perception on this is just skewed yes the majority of literal on-the-street homeless people are men, and yeah I definitely see them because I worked with that population for 5+ years. if you had said "women are less likely to be lonely than men" or "I think there are more truly lonely men than lonely women" or something then that wouldn't faze me. but to flat out deny that women can feel loneliness, that's b…

you kind of do to make the statement that they have no friends or family, yeah. that isn't something you can casually observe I know nerds, nerds are most of my friend group. nerds still have friends and family in my experience, the truly isolated people who match the description you gave (literally no friends/family/partner) are those with significant mental health and social challenges, like significant enough to prevent them from maintaining a job/housing. those people are mostly male tbf, bu…

I don't think of myself as having a strict type but 2 features I really like are being burly and having a beard

he already treats me well, so I think wayyyy better would come off as kind of overeager/try-hard. I guess I would assume he's more relaxed around me than in previous relationships, and generally I think that's a good thing if we were talking about a person who was treating me like shit currently, then that would obviously piss me off
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/20 06:02 PM

aw I've been here for a few purge picture days and I'm always pretty impressed with how attractive everyone is

what is real loneliness? having zero friends or family and no romantic partner?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/20 04:12 PM

same. I enjoy it sometimes when I'm in a good head space but if I smoke when I'm already spiraling it just turns my maladaptive thoughts up to 11

well just ask her on the first date for an itemized list of all the sex acts she's done previously and is willing to do in the future, duh

okay, maybe not never then, just really infrequently why did they reject those men?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/08/20 12:47 AM

it would be less dumb if they were talking about being rejected and then later pursued by the same woman but seems like it's never about that. so yes, it's dumb

I dunno, I don't think that's entirely true. There is science that gets at the mechanisms behind things like sex, bonding, social reward etc. I agree that it usually doesn't directly answer the kinds of questions that tend to get asked here though (nor should it)
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/20 04:00 PM

I never called it a strawman, I pointed out that he was wrong lol. do you also think that there are bluepillers here who legitimately think confidence is unattractive? find them for me, maybe I'm wrong

everyone says I have the best science. tremendous science, huge
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/20 01:08 AM

something doesn't become a strawman just because you personally don't believe it lol. other RPers have said this; you don't need to defend it if you don't want to but don't get pissy when I specifically asked you what claims you wanted to see disputed Why not? lots of reasons but a big one is probably that "jock" and "nerd" are terms that are difficult to operationalize in a meaningful way no there are not plenty of blue pillers who think confidence isn't attractive, that is a flatly untrue lol.…
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/20 10:22 PM

What does that study have to do with TRP? redpillers here make claims about women's ability to empathize (with men specifically but also as a general thing). they talk about female solipsism and the inability to appreciate other perspectives outside their own reality. that review is relevant to those claims you will not find serious science comparing jocks to nerds lol (that I'm aware of anyway) you will also not find any BPers here claiming that desperate people are more attractive than confide…
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/20 10:03 PM

lol. I see a problem but I'm not sure we'd agree on what it is is there a particular perspective you would specifically and GENUINELY like to learn more about? or do you just want me to pick a rando study? I can do that but it doesn't seem very productive (unless this post was just a front to get us arguing about the same ol shit as always) here is a review of research on gender and empathy: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5110041/

if it's looking orangey rather than yellow then what she wants is something with a blue tone, not purple. If she can get ahold of some blue dye she can add a bit of that to her conditioner and try leaving it in for a few minutes worked for me when I was going blonde (but YMMV)
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/20 02:54 PM
1

you can neutralize orange (with the right toner). but the result isn't going to be a super light blonde
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/20 06:06 PM
1

I don't think it's manipulation if you're upfront about being unsure. maybe some guys do that as a conscious way to scam women into sex but you can't take responsibility for that
/r/PurplePillDebate24/07/20 04:12 PM
2

I'd probably resent it a bit but ultimately you shoulder that responsibility for the other person's hurt feelings because you're the one who broke it off. you're the bitch/asshole. maybe when things are less fresh they might get more perspective on it, or maybe they won't--you can't control that part same as any non-mutual break-up really. I think it's good to be forthright with someone you're starting to date if you're unsure about what you want out of it

I don't think there's really anything that can be done as an individual I could stop coming here lol. that's the struggle
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/20 05:53 PM
5

yeah that's sort of the problem. there are people who do view this sub as a good place to learn about sex and dating, and those who take it less seriously are still perpetuating/legitimizing that by engaging here
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/20 05:40 PM
5

jesus. yeah there's the tantrum route for dealing with conflict and then there are those who will just avoid it at all costs
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/20 05:30 PM
3

productive is maybe not the right word. I guess on the balance I think the bad parts of engaging here outweigh the entertainment or social value, sometimes
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/20 05:27 PM
9

I have a lot of friends in tech and some of the smaller indie companies run by teams of young nerds have super messed up cultures that seem to stem from a lack of soft skills and the inability to navigate conflict. like management doesn't know how to communicate expectations to staff, staff don't know how to respond appropriately to shit from management and it has a tendency to just implode when problems arise
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/20 05:07 PM
8

I make jokes about this but I sometimes struggle with the question of whether it's a productive or "good" thing for the discussion here to take place at all
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/20 04:54 PM
2

I am having one of those zombie days where I've been up working for hours and still don't feel fully awake yet
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/20 04:31 PM

nothing secret about it lol but what you're describing isn't really objectification. the point (as I understand it) is that it's objectifying to be ogled or catcalled by someone who sees you as a sexual target and nothing else this presumably isn't the case with your partner; she knows you love and appreciate her as a whole person.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/07/20 03:38 PM

ok wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a matchmaking service or something lol -I think you meant *conscientiousness -need to define terms (for example very few people will know what 'sanguine' means) -and/or get at these constructs less directly. you generally don't want to ask someone straight up "what's your attachment style" because a) they may not understand what you mean by that and b) if you're that direct about what you're trying to measure you're inviting a whole lotta demand characteri…

misogyny of course
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/20 09:19 PM

I figured that's probably what you meant but the word you want is virtuousness, virtuosity means having a lot of technical skill in something which is also a cool trait but seemed like a high bar lol
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/20 04:27 AM
2

cool. I'm always curious whether people are open about this pill stuff in day-to-day life or if it's like a shameful secret lol
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/20 04:21 AM
2

does your husband know about pill stuff too? like has he seen this sub?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/20 04:04 AM
1

virtuosity in what?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/20 03:55 AM
1

again that is a very different scenario than male promiscuity turning women on. being in a relationship does not signal that your n-count is high (that I'm aware of)
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 02:30 PM
1

if you mean consequences like being judged negatively by others, I think most people who have a lot of sex are aware of that. whatever my personal feelings about it I tend to assume that a high n count signals different priorities/values rather than a lack of understanding
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 02:19 PM
1

that's an interesting study, although I can't figure out how or if they determined that "women's perceptions of their partner's attractiveness" and "women's perceptions of other women's perceptions of their partner's attractiveness" are conceptually distinct. I do think you're making a teensy sleight of hand with this citation though. Feeling horny because the person you're with is considered attractive by others is different than feeling horny because the person you're with has actually gone ou…
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 04:51 AM
2

stop embarrassing yourself are you trying to appeal to my sense of shame? look around that is a bad bet lol I'm trying to figure out if I wounded you in a past life or something
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 04:33 AM
2

by all means lol. I have no wish to force you to commit to someone you don't like
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 04:29 AM
4

it's everything ok well I can't help you with that
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 04:20 AM
2

"you can't say this now because I already drew attention to it" /= an argument lol I answered the question you asked yeah in a reply chain specifically about that analogy. I have no issue with the claim that some men don't like to partner up with women who've had a lot of sex (for all sorts of reasons) so there's nothing to argue about there
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 04:18 AM
1

Before you say "but men" I hope you didn't think this would stop me from pointing out the very obvious here (that men get stds, and men can also experience difficulties in pair bonding) it's fine if the reason you don't want to date someone with a lot of sexual partners is because you think they don't care what other people think and you do care what other people think btw. I don't see how it fits with the lock/key thing but it's fine
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 04:10 AM
4

of course do you think women are turned on, like legitimately made horny by the thought of how many other girls a guy has slept with? is that what you lead with on a first date?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 04:00 AM
3

so the lock/key analogy is just restating a male preference, thank you. it's about the peepee feelz and little else lol
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 03:56 AM
5

why tho
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 03:54 AM
6

We arent talking about moral quandaries lol. right in your view it speaks nothing about her, bad or good. but the lock/key analogy is ostensibly about the key being a good, effective key and the lock being a bad, dysfunctional lock as you said. so again, what's bad (not merely neutral) about a woman having sex
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 03:53 AM
2

ok so men getting laid takes more effort, women getting laid takes less effort does something taking less effort mean it's bad? like do you have a moral objection to people doing things that aren't challenging
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 03:41 AM
4

why are women locks and men keys?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 03:33 AM
2

oh yeah what's so good about it
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/20 03:21 AM
6

ok how dare you
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/20 03:18 PM
2

Depends heavily on what you mean by "beat". Like a slap or a shove, maybe I'd prefer that to cheating but not if it's a full-on beating
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/20 02:57 PM
4

I wouldn't like it too much
/r/PurplePillDebate11/07/20 06:03 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate11/07/20 04:43 AM

of course not, I understand you're very responsible
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/20 10:09 PM
4

of course they are
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/20 07:46 PM
9

why would some women taking BC to prevent pregnancy preclude other people taking it for different medical reasons. like I don't get it, what is your point here
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/20 07:13 PM
11

I don't really agree with the tone of the OP but this rally outside of hospitals and court houses is what activists do. well, it's one of the things they do to raise awareness, show solidarity and bring media attention/pressure to bear on an issue they care about. it's not making yourself a target "for no damn reason" it's putting yourself out there for a cause
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/20 04:35 PM
21

maybe you've just never been with a vibrator :P
/r/PurplePillDebate10/07/20 04:10 PM
16

this gets asked a lot. one part of the puzzle may be that women are more relaxed and friendly around a guy they know to be taken because there's a (perceived) lack of risk of inviting unwanted sexual or romantic overtures
/r/PurplePillDebate09/07/20 07:33 PM
6

I don't really know how to answer this but if you haven't you should read the short story "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" by ursula leguin

/r/PurplePillDebate03/07/20 05:05 PM

in a limited sense yes. I was really insecure + nervous about intimacy and down on myself about both when I met my partner and being with him definitely ameliorated those issues globally though there are also problems that it did not fix (although I would say having that relationship as a safe place to land has made it easier to work on them)
/r/PurplePillDebate02/07/20 02:31 PM

I shouldn't judge because I understand the impulse but it's increasingly gross to me when women try to prove their value in these kinds of threads
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/20 02:52 PM

individual men are resistant to commit because they value something about being single (like freedom, simplicity, alone time, casual sex whatever) and/or fear something about being in a relationship (boredom, stagnation, vunerability etc)
/r/PurplePillDebate16/06/20 01:55 PM
4

I'm not making a statement about using sex to get relationships, it's about being open to both lol. you can like casual sex while still wanting a committed relationship
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/20 11:41 PM
5

I can't figure out what the revelation is here. why are you surprised that someone enjoys casual sex but would also like a relationship with the right person...that's like the majority of people who engage in casual sex lol, male and female
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/20 08:43 PM
1

this sounds like a fine way to filter people tbh. I was picturing you straight up telling girls "so yeah I haven't had sex in 10 years" a propos of nothing lol
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/20 07:00 PM
2

confessing my lack of dating history how are you doing this exactly?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/20 06:14 PM
1

that's a pretty optimistic take on it
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/20 06:25 AM
6

it's not really all of a sudden and I wouldn't characterize the backlash as misogyny (although she's a famous lady on the internet so I'm sure she gets plenty of that anyway). no I don't think it's "too far" to criticize her shitty takes on trans people. no one is ousting her from twitter or throwing her in thought jail, calm down lol
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/20 05:54 AM

have you seen Stalker (1979)? it's kind of like a stripped-down version of Annihilation. basically 100% atmosphere (and less attractive people lol)

/r/PurplePillDebate09/06/20 07:41 PM
1

if it's a first date situation don't bring it up with her, bring it up with your friends later. maybe discuss where's that coming from, is it productive or is it getting in they way of your goals etc if it's within an established relationship I actually think it's fine to talk to your partner about things that make you uncomfortable/insecure even if they're not super rational. but you have to be self-aware and open to hearing the other person's perspective
/r/PurplePillDebate09/06/20 05:43 PM

part of becoming an emotionally mature person is knowing what feelings are and are not appropriate to express (and when, and in which contexts, and how). I get pissed off and resentful when I lose in goldeneye but I generally do not start insulting my friends and being a passive-aggressive shit about it well, maybe sometimes I do but I shouldn't. Being expected to control some of your emotional impulses is not a bad or oppressive thing

I know this probably doesn't reflect general trends but the only financially unbalanced relationships I've seen in my peer group have involved women carrying men. tbf though in my own relationship it's gone both ways over the years
/r/PurplePillDebate09/06/20 03:16 PM

Yes I'm sure that is why
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/20 05:13 AM

as a nerd I wouldn't say I was bitter about it but I was definitely mopey for a good couple of years
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/20 12:17 AM

that's crazy how small is your town
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/20 10:33 PM

it is absolutely disadvantageous to be a man in most situations involving the police
/r/PurplePillDebate05/06/20 03:55 PM

"having a home that smells nice" I am now wondering what OP's place smells like lol

there is actually already a buttload of research along those lines (ex: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1470639/ ). findings on physical health are more mixed but generally gay and lesbian people report worse mental health

being an object of scrutiny makes me anxious so if someone stares at me in a really obvious way it triggers self-consciousness and discomfort. and it's sometimes accompanied by gross sexual comments, so there's that

not every person is attractive :(

there have been plenty of lawsuits won and bills passed and progressive (but not too progressive) politicians elected and specialized trainings + increased oversight for police officers. the problems persist that isn't to say those things are all useless but they are imperfect and they are slow. I think what you're seeing now is a bubbling over of frustration from people and communities who have seen those solutions attempted but are still getting burned. racial justice is a hell of a thing to e…

I think may be men are tested on more because it is dangerous to be tested on the reason biomedical research (and a lot of research in general) is often done with male subjects is because of the perception that the female hormonal system introduces a bunch of annoying variability into your data that then has to be considered and controlled for. this holds even in research with animal models (so a lot of people doing basic science will use male rather than female rats/mice) there have been big pu…

I don't think it's good or bad on its own. I don't know what it means on a societal level personally I'm married and that works for me. I have friends who would like to get married and friends who definitely don't want to and that's fine
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/20 09:21 PM

you don't need to choose allegiance to anything, especially not silly pill business. do what makes sense to you

I don't know much about tik tok. we all tend to curate our own online experience though I suspect time will tell how mainstream these kinds of views are when the current crop of teenagers gets into their 30s-40s
/r/PurplePillDebate20/05/20 05:19 PM
1

thanks lol. do you genuinely think the views expressed here are mainstream? do men say this stuff to you in your day-to-day life, or is it a case of assuming that other people are secretly thinking what you think?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/05/20 04:24 PM

in weirdo corners of the internet, yes
/r/PurplePillDebate20/05/20 03:21 PM

I don't get questions like this. Yes probably some women in that situation would regret it, others wouldn't. there are a million different factors that go into it

I agree that it was too long but it was fun at first and I think I came out of it with an overall greater appreciation for seals and seal-like animals I wish mods would still remove at least the most egregious racist threads and comments but I guess that would defeat the point edit: forgot to say that the memes really made me want to dye my hair

/r/PurplePillDebate07/05/20 03:21 PM

if you're serious: take a break from the porn and you don't need to trust "women" you need to start seeing people as individuals again. Stay off of forums that discuss this kind of gender dynamic stuff (ppd included). Re-invest in real world friendships, try some different social activities than what you're used to

it's because my partner once blew a raspberry on me after saying he wouldn't. I've never gotten over that betrayal also sensory issues

"The divorce rate per 1000 married women is nearly double that of 1960, but down from the all-time high of 22.6 in the early 1980s." I'm not sure what you want me to take away from this
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/20 12:33 AM

I didn't want a big fuss and I really wouldn't want it for a pretend marriage
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/20 12:24 AM

you can't see stats here I'll go: https://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2019/03/divorce-rates-are-down-but-theres-a-catch/

I mean sure he probably peaks early. but the party lifestyle definitely extends past your early 20s, depending on the scene and my artsy skinny chad-self would specifically target those scenes
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 11:42 PM
1

well we'll never know, will we? fun thread
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 11:02 PM

lol when I envision an artsy chad he's not really the academic type. he is like a freewheeling bohemian, goes-to-shows-every-night and always has drugs kind of guy
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 11:01 PM
1

fashion, drugs and music lol??? a lot of people like these things
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 10:58 PM

most of the dudes were virgins still at 20 how did that come up?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 10:52 PM

yeah that's why I asked. I want to know whether he thinks women should be allowed to choose their own sexual partners
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 08:13 PM

listen I do not know what a sigma is and I don't care to yes skinny. I'm skinny now, my brothers are skinny, I'd probably be skinny as a dude
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 07:11 PM

fair lol
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 07:11 PM

I just like people to be very clear about the implications of positions like this
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 06:32 PM

do you think skinny artsy dudes never sleep around?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 06:29 PM

what makes you think I think it's easy?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 06:23 PM

cuz you're in bed and you're lazy
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 06:16 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 06:14 PM
1

I'm being a bit serious yes
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 05:51 PM

I would be a skinny artsy chad
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 05:39 PM
3

why would social intelligence even come up in that context lol
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 04:28 PM

"under women" meaning under a system where women are allowed to choose their own sexual partners?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/20 04:24 PM

I'm not trying to shame you for being upset about it, I'm just saying that if it's causing you that much distress then balding may not be the only problem
/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/20 03:51 PM

not every guy feels that way about balding though. that extreme level of emotional upset is not the norm

/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/20 03:15 PM

I think most people just want someone who is open about their emotions and willing to talk about them sometimes. there is no cry quota if you don't get at least a bit choked up when shadow makes it home you might be a monster though
/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/20 03:12 PM

well I haven't seen the movie just read a plot synopsis
/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/20 03:01 PM

ear tipping is an easy visual marker, it's done while the cat is under for the spay or neuter and heals fast. Some organizations will also microchip cats when they TNR but it's a lot harder to check for a microchip (especially on feral cats) than it is to just check its ears. Saves time, effort, and stress for the animal

I could be wrong I've just never heard anyone explain their height preference as a logical desire for physical safety
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/20 04:04 PM

I really don't think this is the rationale of most women who have height preferences

what I mean is that this thread is full of men ignoring the q4w flair

that really seems like a separate topic from what was presented in your OP. but I guess I'd say that the more you genuinely like someone, the more you're likely to put up with shenanigans still not clear on who the fun vs average guys are and what they're each like though. when I said "good social skills" I was not envisioning the kind of person who would be getting into fights and being arrested left and right

similar thing happened after 9/11 when studies documented people's attitudes shifting towards the more politically conservative (though not specifically around gender afaik). conservative and/or traditionalist mindsets are associated with fear and uncertainty. you can even temporarily induce more conservative attitudes experimentally with simple scarcity cues. the deeper 'why' of that is actually discussed in some detail in the linked article; one proposed explanation has to do with people turni…

well that just sounds cute lol I don't just mean financial risk though. even if you had no legal or official ties just having a being with half your genes walking around in the world seems like A Big Deal. it's with someone you know so it's not like you could just ignore its existence
/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/20 04:24 PM

I loosely followed this how-to but I've done it before pre-pandemic so it was a bit of both lol. My advice is to use a good pair of scissors, snip upwards rather than straight across and make your peace with whatever outcome. you can always shave your head ;)

not men as a whole but just on this sub when guys are like "oh I'm actually really sad about not being able to have satisfying relationships with women, bums me out that they are all horrible goblins incapable of love" that gets my goat lol
/r/PurplePillDebate16/04/20 03:00 PM

I always assumed "purple pill" referred to the meeting of red and blue pill peeps for debate purposes originally and the rise of "purple pillers" as a thing happened later. But I could be wrong
/r/PurplePillDebate15/04/20 06:42 PM
4

I kind of agree with that sentiment. sure its good debate practice but if an idea or belief is bad on its face, do you really need all the deep lore to criticize it on that level?

/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 11:17 PM

I mean maybe. the good news is that a lot of this stuff is mutable if your circumstances and habits change. But that is obviously easier said than done
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 05:41 PM
2

being poor can in a sense give you underlying health conditions. maternal and early life stress, restricted food choices, various types of privation all this stuff can impact your immune functioning and increase systemic inflammation which is implicated in chronic conditions like heart disease, depression etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 05:20 PM
46

I've never observed this and am pretty skeptical of it being an actual common thing. What i find much more plausible is the idea that one partner can be just kind of coasting along or chronically distracted, not paying much attention to the relationship and thereby not noticing a deterioration until the break-up. So it seems out of the blue to them
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/20 03:11 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/20 09:21 PM

you should probably get that looked at
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/20 06:22 PM
9

It is quite odd to me that the gender who most encourages self love and acceptance can't accept what they actually look like there is nothing odd about this? a lot of women are socialized to be very focused on their physical appearance and experience insecurity over it, all the noise about self-love is a reaction to that
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/20 06:14 AM

this is more personal than I'm willing to get with an internet stranger

I usually wear mine daily and take it off at night but haven't for a few weeks now with the pandemic. Occasionally I will switch it out for other rings (I have some others that I like and don't like wearing more than one at a time lol). Our rings are kind of matching so I like when we wear them together. Feels like a small reminder that we're part of a team
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/20 02:23 PM

I've definitely seen the thinkpieces (specifically via this sub). I do not recall them being specifically about the struggles of rich women nope that's it from me.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/20 03:24 PM

what are these rich women articles you've been triggered by? the linked post seems to just have graphs
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/20 03:09 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/20 03:01 PM

is that why you think men tend to do less chores? lack of bandwidth?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/20 02:52 PM

embrace it. become the softboi you were meant to be
/r/PurplePillDebate07/04/20 11:58 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate07/04/20 07:25 PM

having a satisfying and secure relationship is very important to me (I dunno about %-wise though) now that I'm in a committed relationship the things I do for self-improvement are actually mostly unrelated to becoming more attractive for my partner. it's tough to remember my mindset when I was single but I think I was much more neurotic about primping specifically in order to get romantic/sexual attention than I am now
/r/PurplePillDebate06/04/20 06:25 PM
1

like this
/r/PurplePillDebate06/04/20 06:10 PM
5

you would think that you complete dum-dum
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/20 10:53 PM
7

yeah I don't think it's a logical thought process, it's that we tend to think people who don't pay child support are scummy so therefore helping them out=bad.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/20 10:51 PM
2

I liked the bleached hair + shades guy
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/20 10:31 PM
17

because there's a child's welfare at stake and people care about children. that's it. no mystery here edit: oh I kinda misread but actually I think the answer still stands. people judge people who don't pay child support harshly because of the above
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/20 10:28 PM

incisive!

there is definitely published research that's relevant to PPD's fave topics like gender differences, sexism, attraction, dating behaviour and attitudes, pair bonding, etc. it's not all accessible though (both in terms of being publicly available and digestible for laypeople)

/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/20 09:06 PM

I dunno, texting all the time, lots of compliments, talking about really deep/intimate stuff? but really it's hard to give specifics. it's the kind of thing where most people know it when they see it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/20 08:52 PM

I did it years ago with someone I had gone out with once and wasn't interested in. I made some polite excuses to get out of a second date but he kept asking. It felt like the kinder and easier option at the time but I feel bad about it now and wish I'd been more direct

I haven't read them. Are they good?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/20 05:40 PM

maybe yeah, it depends on the dynamic. Like if you're being very romantic and cute and "relationship-y" with each other that might feel like monogamy whether you've discussed it explicitly or no
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/20 05:35 PM

exciting! but you should request a bigger dog

I've been cold approached a few times. The experiences ranged from pleasant to intensely uncomfortable. It was successful once if by successful you mean I went on a date with the person the more pleasant experiences were the ones where the guy was confident, straightforward about his intentions and did not put a lot of pressure on me to say yes
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/20 04:56 AM

"men" and "the posters here" are very different categories for me lol I don't really have gripes with men but I wouldn't want to be with someone who held sincere beliefs about my gender being dumb, immature, conniving, or ~mysterious~

advice 1: do not call people shortcels advice 2: get off the internet and away from folks who use terms like "shortcel" advice 3: try to branch out and meet different people advice 4: be very clear with potential dating partners that you are looking for a serious relationship (not casual sex)

why would you assume that trans women and lesbians would be "the peak of their gender in emotional stability"
/r/PurplePillDebate03/03/20 06:02 PM
3

personally I found it a bit long
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/20 05:10 AM
1

Ya
/r/PurplePillDebate29/02/20 08:54 PM
2

I don't hold with spitting on anyone but there is a difference between disdaining someone for their chosen political ideology vs disdaining them for their race or gender
/r/PurplePillDebate27/02/20 06:37 PM
1

not significantly. but tbf p-values aren't everything
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/20 08:15 PM
7

those findings were non-significant BUT they did find that more expensive cars were less likely to yield. so the real story here is that rich people are jerks
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/20 06:22 PM
3

people don't need to ski to eat though
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/20 05:50 PM

ok bub
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/20 05:37 PM
1

I never know what to do when someone's argument is basically "you might think you think this but actually here's what you REALLY think" lol a simple 'nuh-uh' would have sufficed
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/20 03:21 PM
1

well sure, no one is saying that doesn't happen
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/20 03:48 PM

I don't think you can really call this new

the lesson here is always bring a photo reference
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/20 12:08 AM
2

may-may
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/20 08:20 PM
3

ergo someone could be unambitious by that definition but still hypergamous in that they want a really excellent partner
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/20 05:56 PM
11

when people say "ambition" they are usually thinking about educational or work-related attainment. and/or making lots of money
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/20 05:44 PM
31

less support and compassion for male victims of abuse or harassment
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/20 05:35 PM
7

in the initial stages of dating I think it's better to split. There's no deep reason for my belief about this, it just seems fair. when I used to go on dates I would try to pay my own way. but some guys would insist and I'm conflict-averse so I wouldn't push too hard about it I don't think there is really a rising number of women pushing back against this. definitely not in my age group at least
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/20 04:50 PM
5

I am legit flattered by this but I don't think it's for me. I endorse flamingoing
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/20 05:23 AM
1

I'm into it
/r/PurplePillDebate21/02/20 03:48 AM
4

ok I hedge constantly so consider me extremely triggered by this comment but like the alternative is either a) projecting your experience onto everyone or b) saying nothing at all
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/20 09:28 PM
1

what is medium bad? lol I see it as having a greater potential for being bad (than an equivalent relationship between people of the same age), not inherently bad. I view the older party as the person with more power, yes
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/20 09:25 PM
1

it was. and to be clear I don't look at every 35-year-old dating a 20-year-old and think "that's exactly the same situation/exactly as bad", I just consider it a bit of a red flag for potential fucked-upedness
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/20 07:03 PM
3

I don't think that's fair. I disagree with the comment but she explicitly states that it doesn't apply to everyone: I don't know if its the majority of women. Some women here seem to feel differently
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/20 06:41 PM
2

early-to-mid 20s wouldn't really bother me much personally. like maybe a bit of side eye if the guy in question is a LOT older at the core it's about the power differential (which is a reductive way of looking at things, but not meaningless). a 30-something person has a lot more social status, experience, and knowledge than an 18- or 19-year-old. That doesn't mean that their relationship will inevitably be exploitative or damaging, but there's a much greater chance of it being so than if partner…
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/20 03:46 PM
1

if you're asking for an example, a friend of mine in HS met this guy online who lied about his age, lied about being single, and engaged in some very deep-end BDSM shit with her (like slapping her around) while she was underage and completely inexperienced
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/20 03:33 PM
1

I think women who target young men can be considered predatory. so there's not much to reconcile for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ you're right that there's a lingering double standard about this though.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/20 03:23 PM
167

I'm not going to deny that there may sometimes be jealousy at play when this happens. it's also worth remembering though that a lot of women have experienced or observed situations where older guys have manipulated and hurt naive younger women
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/20 09:05 PM
0

and if they never get it it's because they were never ready. genius
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/20 07:34 PM
1

I'm not sure. maybe? hard to say
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/20 05:31 PM
3

someone who won't hassle her about sex when she's not in the mood? I'm guessing this was in reference to women with low or mismatched libidos. I don't think most people actually screen for this though (but maybe they should) BP

/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/20 06:35 PM
1

I can't help but feel bad for people like this guy. Yes it's super self-imposed and he obviously did something bad but I doubt he (or anyone really) deserves the full force of The Internet's derision and mockery for it. It feels weird and vaguely dystopic that this level of public shaming is just a thing that happens now
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/20 06:17 PM
17

There is a tendency for some guys (particularly ones who will strike up a conversation with you out of the blue in public) to interpret any amount of friendliness + breasts as romantic/sexual interest. Once that happens, extricating yourself from the situation might be quick and painless or it might be very protracted and awkward. In the odd situation it can even escalate and feel a bit scary. If this happens to you enough times you can start to get pretty guarded about being approached by stran…
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/20 04:29 PM
2

I'll buy him a beer
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/20 02:24 PM
2

guys trying to feel better about themselves and get more sex with women morally I think it's bad because of all the sexism (and other forms of bigotry that seem to frequently go along with it)
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/20 02:11 AM
3

that's kind of a debate-terminating statement
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/20 09:04 PM
2

I HATE having to be a piece of shit I feel bad for you but at the same time this seems like the most self-imposed shit ever. do you 100% sincerely believe that no woman will love you unless you treat her like garbage? have you never experienced or observed any other kinds of relationships?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/20 04:05 PM
2

that doesn't really explain anything lol single person needs 1 income, couple needs 2 incomes. math
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/20 09:43 PM
1

I'm sure there are lots of reasons but maybe partially it's the power of the taboo? like knowing that something is naughty/risky/ p r o b l e m a t i c seems to add sexual appeal, and female submission would be especially taboo in the value system of a hard-line feminist
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/20 09:41 PM
4

Honestly I don't know. It would make me uncomfortable and I'd have to do some hard thinking about it maybe I'd move in and pay rent? My friend's bf recently moved in with her and that's what he does lol
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/20 09:31 PM
4

even without bringing dependents into it I don't see how it's at all contradictory. like I can fully support myself financially, but I can't fully support myself and a partner. I feel like I'm missing something lol
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/20 09:26 PM
7

Definitely more interested in handling my own money. I have some hang-ups about financial independence
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/20 09:16 PM
11

it was never a consideration for me when I was single, but at least at my current salary I could not afford to 100% financially support a partner. So having some income is important, but it's a pretty low bar
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/20 09:08 PM
1

right but I'm saying how do you know they're doing it for that reason and not just because it's what women (and people in general) like
/r/PurplePillDebate12/02/20 04:03 PM
0

I agree lol. Much like the manic pixie dreamgirl thing it's a trope not a reality
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/20 10:38 PM
2

Some media tries to cover it up to make it look ok (like your example of Han turning good why is this the media covering up/"twisting things" instead of evidence that women and others legit enjoy when "bad boys" have a heart of gold?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/20 09:57 PM
7

han solo starts out as a bad boy but his character arc is very explicitly learning to care about people and believe in a just cause. In the end he makes the ultimate good guy move of offering to stand aside so that the woman he loves can be happy
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/20 06:49 PM
7

I don't have fully formed opinions about this but I think it might go back to the idea that having sex with a man is somehow inherently submissive and degrading, like maybe it has similar roots to the master key vs shitty lock bs. Also probably related to men being held to comparatively strict social "rules" for gender-appropriate behaviour I do think this is changing though. There are definitely women who consider men having sex with other men to be a turn-on (source: all of the fanfiction)
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/20 06:31 PM
2

understood lol
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/20 05:31 PM
3

I don't think either of those changes would contribute to making PPD a feminist circle-jerk lol but mods should do another survey. I actually thought they did one recently, or maybe there were plans to?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/20 04:47 PM
1

I don't really see the distinction you're trying to make. every want and drive and desire exists 100% in your mind when you feel like listening to music and or decide to learn about a new thing, that is your mind telling you that you want something. are those things "tricks" because they're not as basic as eating or sleeping?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/20 04:21 PM
1

why?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/20 03:11 PM
2

nope not okay

4

no. I like working
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/20 02:47 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/20 10:41 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/20 10:29 PM
1

men only value women for their holes and sometimes wombs and women only value men for their genes and resources this part is wrong. the reality is that people develop genuine affection and emotional attachment to each other based on other factors. Doesn't mean sex and looks and money aren't important but they are not the be-all end-all of relationships
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/20 10:19 PM

why is that healthy? what is helpful about that?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/02/20 03:47 PM
1

it's also much less direct, with a lot of unverified assumptions built in
/r/PurplePillDebate08/02/20 03:25 PM
1

why is that worse?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/02/20 12:54 AM
1

sure or just make a shorter version of the story
/r/PurplePillDebate07/02/20 11:12 PM
3

this is a very long story
/r/PurplePillDebate07/02/20 11:07 PM
1

oh I think you misread that article. it's kind of a wonky methodology but essentially the researchers took economic and other data from married couples and used that info to create hypothetical "synthetic" husbands for unmarried women in various demographic groups. the synthetic husbands had incomes 58% higher than actual available unmarried men (not 58% higher than the women) weird study lol
/r/PurplePillDebate07/02/20 10:40 PM
8

so using it as a threshold is your own interpretation?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/02/20 09:55 PM

I’ve read that a man has to earn 58% more where did you read that?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/02/20 09:07 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/20 06:01 PM

already burned at the stake. there was always debate over who was the abuser in this situation and/or whether it was mutual, even in very online lefty feminist communities
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/20 05:30 PM
3

huh. It would weird me out if a sex partner did that but I guess I can see the sense in it if she's sleeping around a lot
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/20 05:10 PM
2

why did they do that?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/20 05:05 PM

because some probably view it as interacting with other women in a sexual way, and to them that's cheating (or uncomfortably close to it)

1

I hope so
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/20 01:31 AM

that does sound good for her. People want different things and those kinds of values (prioritizing work vs prioritizing time together) are a big part of basic compatibility.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/20 09:15 PM

I’m in my 30s and it still sounds pretty boring lol but you’re right, people have different interests and priorities at 30 than at 20

/r/PurplePillDebate22/01/20 07:43 PM

yes. when I started dating my partner he was still hung up on his ex and it caused problems. we weathered it and it's not something I think much about now, but because of that I think I would be a little uncomfortable if they struck up any sort of close friendship again in my experience ex-related jealousy is pretty universal

I think it's fine and normal for people to be angry about bad things happening to them. If you surround yourself with other angry people though in an environment that bans dissent the odds of you mellowing out and moving past that anger are not great

No, not an asshole move on its own. I do think the smartest and kindest thing to do if you want to avoid misunderstandings and hurt feelings is to discuss what you want with people upfront though as un-sexy as that sounds :P

if she happens to know that he is saving himself for marriage and all she wants him for is a ONS, then yes lol. But I think it's pretty rare for people to have all the relevant info when situations like that are getting navigated. I don't know 100%, but I suspect that when this stuff gets mislabeled it's usually because of cultural narratives like the one you pointed out (guys only want 1 thing) and/or hurt feelings colouring their interpretations of the situation, whether stemming from prior ne…

it's fine to only want sex from someone (though it may cause hurt feelings and disappointment). it's less fine and more of an asshole move to mislead someone into believing, either actively or by omission, that you want more than sex or are interested in them for other reasons when you know that isn't the case In practice though people often do not know what they want from others and end up figuring it out as they go, which is where I think a lot of misunderstandings happen

the only clear-cut example of this that I can remember happened to my friend in HS. she mostly smartened up after that but I don't think anyone here would deny that lying to get what you want works (the first time)

a bit off topic but I think the whole idea of people "letting themselves go" is kind of flawed. it's not just an issue of putting less effort in or giving up, it's that the level of effort needed to maintain a traditionally attractive body increases steadily with age for most people (in the face of stuff like metabolic changes, increased demands on time, injuries & mobility issues)

An important part of knowing someone is seeing how they deal with stressful situations, and that doesn't always come up right away. Generally I am sort of skeptical of stories where people describe their partner suddenly and drastically changing after a long time together though (for example, after they get married). but I'd be curious to hear from people who've experienced it edit: so I guess less a matter of length of time, more about what experiences you've undergone together

Just because someone finds it uncomfortable/distasteful to broadcast sexual proclivities to strangers doesn't mean they aren't open to kink lol. there are lots of topics like this that people don't like to discuss openly. I agree that it's not that simple in that compatibility isn't always 100% obvious from the outset. in the right kind of relationship it increases over time though. like you introduce each other to new interests & hobbies, gain shared experiences, make important decisions jointly and just generally influence each other

why is men getting to have someone keep their house and do their childcare while advancing in a career not similarly considered a privilege? there are trade-offs to either role that kind of a strict division of labour in a marriage is increasingly rare too; in most families both parents work. they get rewarded in case of divorce to compensate for it if you're married you also need to be responsible for their future lifestyle alimony/spousal support is in no way the default arrangement following …
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/19 06:23 AM
7

I'm a child of divorce and know plenty of people who've gone through it I also know people who've been in car accidents but I'd still think it's silly if someone described cars as state-enforced murder machines
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/19 11:30 PM
2

ah you've switched the script. so it's not divorce that benefits women, it's marriage? I agree that women generally benefit from marriage. men too and men finance all of this. or another way of looking at this is that SAHMs hamstring their future earning potential to save their husband 1000s in childcare costs (for those who want kids). both perspectives seem lopsided to me
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/19 11:27 PM
5

doesn't indicate they did not benefit more from it. yes, it does. gender comparisons aside, women are statistically worse off (in terms of things like household income) than their pre-divorce state. why are you framing that as a benefit and not a loss?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/19 10:29 PM
3

that is a real bummer of a take
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/19 09:51 PM
5

Men lose in divorce and women gain in divorce. ok this is not some kind of universal truth. there is actually a fair bit of research on outcomes following divorce (example here) that suggests women lose out roughly equally or (by some economic metrics) fare worse than men

/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/19 09:15 PM

failing to warn them sufficiently (whatever that means in your mind) is not "active trickery". no one is forcing men to get married in this day and age; divorce stats are readily available. you even say this in your OP lol Improving relationships between the sexes, calling for more equal treatment? I find it hard to believe that's your reason for posting this. your whole tone is basically shaming guys who want to get married ("no man with an ounce of self respect...")
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/19 09:13 PM
2

I used to kind of feel that way myself. there's really strong & pervasive cultural narratives around marriage and weddings though so it's not surprising that they hold meaning for people
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/19 08:58 PM

they're traditional & have symbolic meaning (in addition to legal meaning in the case of the paper)

state enforced servitude the high drama of this lol. it makes perfect sense to me that some men (and women) would not want to get married, but I don't understand what motivates someone to get this fussy about the existence of marriage as something other people choose to do

I consider myself to be pretty unaware about most things lol. introspective stuff especially
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/19 07:56 PM

it's so not though, especially compared to the average post in this sub

what do you mean (behaviourally) by being a selfish jerk?
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/19 02:57 AM

it's funny that you would call this post an essay lol f/bi/early 30s/yes

sex has the meaning you give it, individually and as a couple. the problem with cheating as a general thing is that A) sex is very important to some people and B) there's deception involved, and that's bad. on a personal level if my husband asked me for a hall pass to sleep with other women I would be open to that conversation. I would be real pissed if he did it without asking.

pretty much no one I see in public "does something" for me in a sexual sense, and on the rare occasion that has happened it's usually been a woman. If you just mean what percentage are aesthetically pleasing enough for me to consciously take notice and think "huh he's attractive" I'd say maybe 10%. this is pretty unrelated to who I would actually have sex with though
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/19 06:09 PM

you seem mad that people find adam driver attractive and I'm wondering why
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/19 04:54 AM

wow that's...a sub I like the sidebar juxtaposition of "Failos: what Makes a Person Ugly" and "REMEMBER TO LOVE YOURSELF"
/r/PurplePillDebate02/12/19 08:33 PM

yeah that is interesting. it's a very weak correlation though compared to the other results
/r/PurplePillDebate02/12/19 05:22 PM

this study is in part based on an earlier one that found similar results in men (they reference it in the intro). I don't think anyone should be very surprised that people are willing to risk more for an attractive partner also the focus here is on STI transmission risk rather than pregnancy. they did not actually track who among their participants was on hormonal BC (which would presumably affect condom use intentions among women)

I don't think most people would tell beaten women that because that would be a very weird and unhelpful thing to say
/r/PurplePillDebate27/11/19 11:29 PM
2

first I should say that I don't really care much about or give a lot of thought to who is the best at fighting and whether it's fair or not but from my outside perspective it seems like the sports world is full of genetic weirdos with fringe advantages that make them better than your average human at (insert niche physical ability) and it's difficult to see why this is much different, if at all.

all of them seem good/important to me. The gifts one seems a bit weird if it's all the time, but I do really appreciate thoughtful gift giving so idk

what kind of favours do HS girls ask from their boyfriends? no offense but I'm guessing your experience isn't super recent

I don't care. I guess it's a little weird maybe depending on why he's doing it

it includes it, but the advice is clearly meant to be more generalized than that in my view. hence the "negotiating conflict" etc, it's not specific advice about how to fuck. I could be wrong
/r/PurplePillDebate12/11/19 03:06 AM
4

it would if you fucked men lol I don't think that statement is specifically about sexual tension and flirting at all (although it could be relevant to them). it's about a baseline approach to interacting with women as individuals rather than following a set of gendered rules
/r/PurplePillDebate11/11/19 06:23 PM
6

do you treat all of your male friends and acquaintances exactly the same way? are there differences in the best ways to approach them, engage them, have fun with them, negotiate conflict with them? men and women do not have the exact same desires and needs, but this stuff also differs within genders I don't think this advice is telling you to treat a woman you're sexually or romantically interested in like a friend. it's meant to counter the idea that your first frame of reference for interactin…

gray area I think. I would definitely have a problem with it
/r/PurplePillDebate01/11/19 10:42 PM
4

yeah I agree which is why I don't think most people's reasons for using porn are really the same as reasons for using camgirls. there is a different need being met there
/r/PurplePillDebate01/11/19 10:34 PM
3

but then why camgirls and not pornography
/r/PurplePillDebate01/11/19 10:28 PM
1

sort of, but I feel like it's my own fault for not figuring out what I wanted earlier in life
/r/PurplePillDebate31/10/19 03:14 AM

I definitely had chemistry with my husband from the start but overall my feelings are much stronger now than when we started out. over a long enough time period though there are always gonna be peaks and valleys in terms of butterflies. that used to freak me out, now I recognize the pattern (and I know some strategies for jumpstarting it when we're in a lull)

that women don't respect the qualities they're teaching this is not something most women believe
/r/PurplePillDebate20/10/19 05:42 PM
21

this is the strangest question. most women do not buy into the weird sexual politics of TRP. this obsession with the alpha-beta dichotomy is not even on their radars. They are just trying to raise nice kids

I think there is a tendency for some people to associate lighter skin with femininity and darker skin with masculinity
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/19 10:30 PM

I don't agree but that's an interesting way to frame it
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/19 09:40 PM

what makes it a lot more intentional?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/19 07:19 PM
1

I dunno, that thinking seems kind of faulty to me. you may not be able to shake the feeling of wanting to have sex but you're still in control of the decision to do it. both are intentional and bonding is arguably instinctual too
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/19 06:42 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
