Granted but let's be real, it's hardly a panty-dropping field of work. People are attracted to physical strength and practical usability, not intellectual capability.

It's not manly in that you're probably going to end up at a desk job being someone's programming bitch Very true. There's plenty of developing your logical thinking and problem solving skills. But let's be honest, that doesn't really attract many people. People in general care more about physical strength and being able to solve practical issues, as opposed to abstract thought.

Probably the most traditionally "manly" thing I've ever done is work in a fiberglass factory for 6 months. Manual labor. Shifts started at 4 or 5 AM. It was very much hands-on, I learned how to handle power tools. I worked with virtually all men, most of whom were felons. A very masculine bunch. It's a shame I didn't pick up more of their (legal) traits. I'm a programmer by trade. It's "manly" in the sense that it's about problem solving. I can't really say I've impressed many people, though.

People are naturally rendered uncomfortable by that which is "different." Someone who doesn't eat the same snacks as them - that makes them uncomfortable. "Why won't he eat the snack? Why's he doing this to himself? Does he think he's better than us? Just be a normal person, damn it."

Honestly? I've had sexual lucid dreams before. I don't know how it worked for you, but whenever I've had one of those, the experience woke me up and made me jizz myself IRL.

Trump applied several of the Laws of Power. It's really interesting to watch in retrospect. Law 6: Court attention at all costs. By being a polarizing figure, he sure kept the limelight on him. Law 17: Cultivate an air of unpredictability. In the first presidential debate he was interrupting Clinton every chance he got. In the later debates he toned himself down quite a bit. Now that he's President-Elect it's starting to sound like his plans aren't nearly as dramatic as they originally seemed. N…

commit quickly No. Hell no. Do you realize how many people I've seen that end up in miserable parts of their lives due to rapid commitment? I move slowly. I take commitment too seriously to just step right into it. If you want me to commit to you, you better prove yourself worthy of it. And that proof can only come with time, lots of time. To turn their hearts toward children and work to raise them well. Please, the world doesn't need anymore children. I don't want children. I'm sure I'd make a …

A lot of the girls in my Kansas hometown say they like things like "hunting," "mudding," and "being outside." They're "country girls." But when you see how much they weigh, it quickly becomes obvious the only kind of hunting they ever do is for the pizza in the fridge.

She said, "if I wanted sex, I'd be on Tinder." I don't know what it is about this line, but I find it rather encouraging. Something about the fact there are women on Tinder just to find sex means that sex is available even to someone like myself. Even though my physical condition and personality traits might reduces the chances of me actually closing the deal, the opportunity is still there. It's quite the mindset shift in me. I've long held the belief of, "It's bizarre that anyone would want to…

So I scrolled through the comments on this... does TRP not agree on anything anymore? I recall there used to be a fairly strong agreement on most matters, yet now there's so much bashing and chaos. For fuck's sake I came here looking for a better truth than the "truth" I was raised on. Is it here, or do I need to go somewhere else?

There's a website called Trello that I've used extensively for school and work. It's a good tool for workflow management. Recently I've started using it for managing my personal to-do's and hobbies. It's nice because I can make lists of things I want to do, things I'm currently doing, and things I've completed. It's always a great motivation to be able to check off a box on an item, or move something to the "Completed" list.

Then get yourself out of the loop. You're the only one who can. And you're the only one who will. Nobody's gonna handhold you, least of all TRP. Stop saying that you can't. Stop rejecting the advice people are trying to give you here. Accept it or leave.

Schedule in a period of time during the day for reading. Then when you feel yourself getting burnt out on it, stop reading for a week and do something else. I read the A Song of Ice and Fire series in about six months, reading for an hour daily. If you aren't aware of ASOIAF, the books are pretty dang large and the plot is massive. There were a few times when I found myself getting bored with reading it, so I opted to not read for about a week. There was no sense in reading if I wasn't enjoying …

Your mention of the feeling of control plays into the concept of frame. A man with good frame can discipline himself to not just do what he wants, but chose to not do what he wants in favor of something greater. This is the essence of discipline - saying No to some things to get a better Yes. I once read a blog post that basically said, instead of using fear to run away from things, use fear to motivate yourself to do them. React with fight, not flight. Instead of fleeing from fear, put yourself…

I've read it, but applying it is actually a challenge for me. The premise of the book boils down to empathy and interest. And I am not normally an empathetic, interested person. I live in a shell of "I don't really care about most people" and by golly, that is a challenging shell to escape.

Women by nature have a need to relate. Take a look at any elementary schoolyard. You'll see the boys rough-housing and vying for social status. Meanwhile the girls will be talking, relating to each other. When they grow up they continue that habit of talking and relating, sharing everything with their girlfriends.

One thing I don't understand: he is not my friend and he knows it. Why would it be friendly banter? It's friendly not in the sense that you're friends, but in the sense that it's meant in a casual, jovial, not-enemy fashion. I can be friendly toward a stranger and not be their friend. Friendship status has nothing to do with it.

That's just how us guys are, though. It's instinctual in us to "rough house," be it physically or verbally, as in this case. Why do dogs bark? Because, they're dogs. Why do guys give each other crap? Because, they're guys. Learn how to handle the verbal punches. Learn how to give them yourself. Go with the flow.

Some notes: What is Machiavellianism? How can I employ it? Miachiavellianism can be defined as using the people and resources available to you, in order to achieve your own goals, using deception as needed. To "use" people you must first understand them. What are their beliefs, values, strengths, weaknesses, resources, etc.? What do they want? Understanding these elements shows how they may be of use to you. To attain goals, you must first clearly know what your goals are. You must also know how…

There's a quote from Star Trek: The Next Generation that I've lived by for many years: It is the struggle itself that is most important. We must strive to be more than we are. It does not matter that we will never reach our ultimate goal. The effort yields its own rewards. So what if the goals are impossible? Achievement of a goal happens in a second. The progress toward a goal can last years. We spend far more time in the process of working toward goals, than in the moment of achieving a goal. …

It seems the general stance is that it's acceptable to interact with women as necessary, but not to seek them out for dating or sexual purposes. Fortunately I have little contact with women as it is these days, so there's not much temptation to go beyond what's allowed in monk mode.
/r/becomeaman17/05/16 09:45 PM

No worries, I'm doing these things. But I ask for advice because I want to do them in a most effective way. Not to mention, the information on monk mode has been rather vague concerning the practical stuff. Maybe I've just missed something one of you haven't.
/r/becomeaman17/05/16 02:51 PM

I'm only a day or two into monk mode so I can still do something about that. But I must ask: how can I improve my Game during this time? I intend to read heavily but what about practicing it?

Oh yes, I have concrete goals established for most of these, usually along the lines of "do such-and-such for an hour each day." For coding and writing, I have specific projects to work on. For recreational reading I want to finish the Lord of the Rings books, then go on to Asimov's Foundation series. I plan to take notes while reading through the RP books. The only part I'm not clear on is the part involving improving the social part.

I'm a Christian in college who regularly meets with other believers during the week. I'm slowly starting to realize that most of the girls are not different than nonbelieving girls in this regard. It surprises me because they really do give off that air of being different. Maybe one or two of them are. But most of them? Unlikely.

As I see it, you can either continue hating women, or accept that men and women act in these different, perhaps unpleasant, ways. The stomach uses acids to break down foods into things we can digest. The ear turns particle vibrations into sound. Why? Because, that's what they're wired to do. In the same fashion, men and women are designed to act in particular ways in regards to sexuality. There's a certain degree of predictability, a degree to which it can be understood. Accept those differences…

Read this book a couple months ago, it feels good to get a reminder of these things, and to see how much (or little) I've changed since then. I struggled with #3 because I honestly feel like that doesn't apply to me. There were so many things in the book which applied to me but I just don't see myself as a people pleaser. I tend to be individualistic, and I acknowledge that some people won't like me. The rest of the stuff was frighteningly accurate about 90% of the time.

Gauging by the other responses, I get the feeling this isn't the best article out there. Nonetheless, I feel like it speaks truth to some degree. I was once asked if I would be getting my girlfriend at the time a promise ring. I had never heard of one before and it was still early in the relationship (around 6 months). Promise rings don't make sense to me. It seems to force a total commitment where it shouldn't be. The dating period is to figure if the other person is a good one to be married to, if that's your desire.

That is correct. Most probably it's because it was an outward thing that didn't really reflect their hearts' intentions. Or perhaps they did intend to abstain but once they got into committed relationships they decided otherwise?

I am still highly skeptical of the whole deal. What deal? TRP? Or something else? Does Mormonism allow you to date someone without it leading to marriage? If so then you can apply RP to that extent. Since I am also religious there are parts of RP I also refrain from but that doesn't mean it won't work with me. Mormon, Lutheran, Buddhist or agnostic, men and women are still wired in certain ways. The aim of TRP is to lead you to become a better man and find a quality woman. If you think RP stuff …

Introversion/extroversion is something which interests me. I lean more toward the introverted side (an introverted Redditor? There's a novel concept). I'm still new to the whole "red pill" concept. Not sure yet if I'm going to get on board with it, but I've been eating up the philosophy of it a lot the past few days. I can see two reasons why the red pill philosophy is unliked. First, it dares to declare that men and women are not equal. Women want men to lead them, are apparently less rational then men, etc. Men are needed to be the leaders, are better at logic, etc. To the uneducated eye, these seem to paint women in a negative light while g…
