Spoke with my lawyer today and did the new child support workup. My Ex is entitled to a review of finances as stipulated by our arrangements. After plugging all the information into the AZ child support calculator, including the new insurance costs, school costs, and the increase in the number of visitation days I have, my child support obligation went down $18. Not worth going to court to adjust.

When I spoke with my lawyer about my Ex's request to raise child support so she could better afford a house, she smirked. Apparently she has had clients come in and ask if this is possible. The three items she hears most are increases for mortgage, financial aid payments, and car payments. While the intentions are to "better" my daughters living arrangements, this is not something that justifies an increase. She said it is child support, not alimony. She cited examples of "what if the closing process fall through" or "she loses the house." I'm sure my ex will mask the reason under something else but my lawyer knows the situation.
