Yes but the odds of a man being sexually assaulted by age 18 are also 1 in 6. You can go to www.1in6.org for more information. The stats on perpetration for forced sex are around 60:40 male to female. Studies show females perpetrate child sexual abuse 25% of the time. That figure could be higher.

well since this number changes constantly (1 in 4, 1 in 6, i also read 1 in 8, make up your mind already) and there is no source provided what so ever, the good old rule "what is assumed without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence" applies here. also people that avoid the ocean because they are afraid of shark attacks are probably idiots.

I suspect that it all depends on the authors personal definition of sexual assault.

If, by SA, they mean being dragged violently into an alley and raped -then the number is a little high.

If they include unwanted touching and being looked at in a sexual way (or believing they were being looked at), then, yeah, that's about right.

For that stat to have any meaning they would have to put up the numbers for male victims based on the same criteria.

In the UK the Home Office published a report saying that 50% of UK women have suffered some form of violence over their lifetime. That says nothing without the parameters used and comparable male stats. In high school I suffered some form of violence every week. This suggests that 50% of UK women manage to get through their entire life without experiencing any violence at all. If true; there is no other group in the world with that sort of privileged.

It clearly doesn't but that's not the point.

The point that if it was any other group she would be attacked for saying these things. What if I posted something about how it is okay to hate black people because they cause most of the crime in my country?
