I have to write an essay on the differences in how society treats men and women. What are some credible sources that I may use to brainstorm?

Check out r/mensrightslinks, or some of the other related subs in the sidebar. There is a collection of sources on a variety of topics. Its not an academic database by any means, but it's a good place to start and get ideas

Isn't real life a credible source?

Bars often have one or more days where ladies get in free. Men never get this.
When in doubt, many bouncers assume the man started a fight, not the woman.
Women have the option of abortion. Men do not have the option of avoiding child support.
In the US, men are required to register for the draft (Selective Service) at age 18, women are not.
Women often get a pass for uncontrollable rage, some citing PMS. In the same situation men are called "psychopaths".
Women attempt suicide more often, men complete suicide more often. There actually is a link for this which I don't have right now.
How many domestic violence shelters are there for men in the US? None?
Most rape posters are gender-biased assuming men are the perpetrators.
In many states, the official policy of domestic violence is, the man is arrested, regardless of evidence at the scene. Michigan is one of those states.
Look at funding for breast cancer vs funding for prostate cancer. Look at cases per year for each and funding per case. Funding per case = yearly funding / cases per year.
