Interesting piece, he has described and challenged some Western cultural norms that are not cultural universals. In parts of Korea and China a school girl is just as likely to be beaten as school boy, for instance. Yet in the West is has been exclusively reserved for males.

Humans are by nature intellectually lazy and those in the "cultural norm business" tend on to only see norms that affect them negatively; we are a rats nest of cognitive biases. Our social engineers are opening a Pandora's box, the contents of which they don't fully understand or have given enough thought to.

Constantly challenging things around us is intellectually exhausting and we simply accept many things as just being so. Commentators from a different era or culture are not hampered by the same blinders, especially if they do things differently. They have insights that we are blind to. This is why we should study History and well traveled people have a wisdom about them.

It's a short but interesting essay.

He does admit to being a self styled misogynist "I am styled a misogynist forsooth" Because "I detest the sex-class ascendency, striven for by a considerable section at least of the bourgeois Women’s Rights advocates, and desire instead a true and human equality between the sexes."

I am left of center/anti-feminist but I still appreciate individualism and am pragmatic wrt laws. I don't subscribe to the idea that anti-feminism is misogynistic. Women are separate in many ways of feminism. I'm not all together sure if they understand that they are being manipulated. I appreciate women but not being subservient to a governmental agency bigoted towards all men in general based on suppositions of wide spread, over stated "patriarchal privilege". It is a large source of all the societal misandry. It's because we are privileged according too feminist rationalization/ideology, women are compelled to use us for that. If for some reason they just want to use you as a provider for a short time and then throw you out when they find the next social upgrade they think they can get. They can rationalize it using notions of male privilege. The real irony of being labeled "privileged" and outcome of the label is that we are treated as second class and not equally.

The writer makes the observation of comparing feminism to female cults. Which is interesting. Clearly it's a good analogy thankfully there is a healthy atheistic element to feminism.(however I don't approve of their said rhetoric regarding atheism because they had no part in its evolution. Much like the gaming industry.) These are popping up in feminist circles (mini cults) for the most part fringe. Fringe groups though have influence on core issues.

You can be anti-feminist and not be a misogynist. The writer admits he is hateful in his own way, but still hateful.
