It's interesting to note that a very effective way of socialising males is allowing them to be an active participant in the family unit which I believe is the point the Pope is trying to make because, after all, unsocialised men (and women) cause havoc in societies.

Thank you for making this point. Could allowing gays to marry and adopt children encourage the socialization of gays? Yes. Excluding a whole group from the valuable institution of marriage puts them outside the normal social structures that are established in society.

The Pope thinks that, once upon a time, representatives of all the animal species on The Earth were put on a boat built by one man (or 8 if some interpretations are accepted) to survive a flood that swamped the whole world and killed off everything else. We should probably not take him too seriously.
