Feminists claim that women choose lower paying fields as a result of social pressures and therefore wage gap is a woman's problem. However we could equally well say that men choose to work longer hours, in less personally satisfying fields, and commute longer to work because of social pressures, and therefore the wage gap is a sign of women's advantage.

Let's start examining how much stock in us corporations is owned by families and women, rather than single men. It's not at all uncommon for the CEO of a corporation to own far less than 50% personally, and if he's married then even his share is, well, shared. Even so, he's ticked off as a rich male because of his seat in the boardroom.

the estimated million percent of corporations that are led by men, therefore, may largely be proven to be joint owned in marriages. Furthermore, given the joint property statutes in many states combined with the female control attitudes infecting many families (especially in those states) the control of those companies may rest far more surely in womens' hands than in mens'.

Finally, here are a few more stats: (note, I've not vetted these 'facts' - I've just found them.)

Women account for more than 50 percent of all stock ownership in the United States. By 2010, women will account for half the private wealth in the country, or about $14 trillion. By 2020, you can expect that number to reach $22 trillion as wealth continues to shift from men to women.
When women and men of equal education, abilities, and similar social status are compared, the pay disparity disappears. Those women make as much as, if not more than, their male counterparts. Forty-one percent of the 3.3 million Americans with incomes exceeding $500,000 are women.
Women control or influence 67 percent of household investment decisions. Forty-three percent of Americans with $500,000 or more in investable assets are women.
Women control 48 percent of estates worth more than $5 million.

I would think that another study that should compliment wage gap studies would be job satisfaction studies. I think that men are still being socially rewarded for their ability to satisfy protector/provider roles, and will often take work that is less rewarding for higher pay.

When looking for studies related to this, it appeared that this is the most respected job satisfaction study, but I didn't want to buy it, and all articles referring to it were gender neutral. The New York Times had an article related to this, but it was primarily focused on the angle that money was what satisfied men in jobs, and that women were more equally satisfied with lower pay. I think this ignores the fact that men will take a job they don't like if the pay is good enough.

To me part of the wage gap discussion is the notion that all men make more than all women in the same job/work situation. From my own experience, when I first started, I wrongly assumed that if I did a good job, I would be promoted. Boy was I wrong. It took me about 6 years to finally get it through my head that you get what you fight for.

I was higher paid than most when I started, then two years later I was the lowest paid. Changed jobs, probably somewhere in the middle, then after 4 years, lowest paid again. Changed jobs, about middle, changed jobs again and I was on top of the pay pile this time.

I finally learned how to fight for what I wanted. At each company, there was a culture I had to learn in order to get ahead. Now, there were lot's of other males there that were in the underpaid boat, just as there were many females in that same position. The reason they were underpaid was they didn't keep their eyes and ears open for opportunities. I got promoted to a software manager NOT because I deserved it, it was because I went to the C-level and demanded it. I made my case, told him that my career options were C-level or change jobs. I was fully prepared to change jobs.

I had a female colleague who knew how to play the game as well as I did. She advanced quickly and I'm sure made more than I did. There was nothing holding back the other ladies, but none of them, and not many of the men were willing to do what it took. Maybe they didn't even know what it took. I got to see first hand how sitting back and taking what's given to you screws you over.

It's not a work place, it's a war zone! If you want it, go get it. If you don't take it, then sell yourself somewhere else. I doubled my salary in 12 months by hopping jobs when things started to suck.

BS alert. Feminists have been called out on using false data. Incredibly false data. What is being acknowledged by academics, general people, politicians is that laws based on false information are mortally wrong & technically incorrect & should be revoked.

Your other supposition is interesting, but lets take the BS off the books before changing the subject.
