the critlag's take on Feminized academia

I am a third year university student. I have studied at two different universities here in British Columbia. According to national rankings, TRU and UVic are relatively decent, typical Canadian Universities.

I am a math major. My first plan was to go into Pharmacy. I think I may end up going into Engineering or just working in the boom provinces after I get my BSc.

I had to take English in first year and I chose to take some second year English courses. At TRU in my first year, the English classes were really easy and fluffy. They didn't really have enough literature to indoctrinate anyone.

By second year, all that had changed. Victoria has a very PC culture, and my English professor (a self-proclaimed romantic) made taught criticism as a way of looking at things through "lenses." The two primary lenses are the "Marxist lens" and the "Feminist lens." Most of the course was spend criticizing Western colonialism and Western culture.

Thankfully, we did do some Shakespeare, but it was not immune to such ideological butchery.

I decided to take a philosophy class too just so I could qualify as a full time student. It was "philosophy of science," an interesting course that examined the methodology of the scientific method, but occasionally dipped into socialist blabbering about how "corporate science" is destroying the earth and how "mansplaining science" oppresses womyn.

I made the mistake of taking a "philosophy of mind" course this semester. I am a big enough fan of Daniel Dennett that I thought it would be a really interesting course, but his school of thought is just one of many in this confusing cacophony of "theories." Believe it or not, dualism is still entertained as a valid hypothesis and it happens to be my professor's favourite. That's right. You can pay to attend to attend an accredited institution to hear someone entertain the idea of ghostly souls.

I never knew that things used to be different in the West. After discovering Classical Liberalism, Libertarianism, and the dissenting opinions of many academics who saw their beloved departments get polluted by Marxism in the 70s, I realized that the culture I am in is basically corrupt and intellectually bankrupt. It's not that I am going to no longer take their courses because I disagree with their ideologies, it's just that I am sick of them being ideological instead of intellectually rigorous.

I really wish I had gone into Engineering. They have their own humanities courses, that I probably wouldn't even have to take if I transferred, and I would have been more able to focus on science. I used to think that the ideal University education was a well rounded, Renaissance style approach, but I now recognize that I should just use it as an accreditation/invigilation process for my scientific and mathematical qualifications.
