Why isn't their a fathers wreath on Remembrance Day? There's one for mothers.

i didn't even know there was a mother's wreath. Where I'm from all the fallen soldiers' names are engraved on walls in the park. there must be thousands of names.

When the war had finished and the first memorials were taking place, there were 10 women that were invited to the ceremony and were given condolences as they were 10 examples of women who had lost their husbands, sons and most of their other surviving male relatives. To put it bluntly most men who had been directly involved in the war were dead or suffering from the horrible things they had seen and there was a general attitude not to talk about it. The 'glorious notion of war' that had been built up pre-war was well and truly shattered and men were the ones that wanted to distance themselves. For women who had never set foot in those god awful places there was nothing tangible about it, they needed something literal such as the wreath. As harsh as it is, yes men were the tough and emotionless ones, what they went through was something that changed them forever, how could it not?
