I would now LOVE to write an elaborate paper on how academia is failing men in the mental health field, but that is for a much later date if ever (health reasons).

Now Longer Version:

Retired psychotherapist and faculty member here (reason above). I personally had a hell of time maintaining the "scientific mind" around this culture when it came to gender or gender related issues. The article addressed the more quantitative side of psychology and therefore the harder side to be "creative" for biases in the field. Can you imagine now what I am trying to get across?

I KNOW it is only worse in the qualitative side such as gender fields of study (e.g., feminist revisionism of history in humanities). This is why it is so important to read the studies (if you have access ಠ_ಠ) and see how they operantly define the terms they use for their statistics (e.g., coercion = verbal pressure). *note

The update? A while back I vented about a tragedy and thanks to all of you for your support. To those of you that have served a special and concerned thanks to you. I cannot tell you how much I am really concerned about you. In the USA, over a decade has gone on now with steadfast war (decades of redeployments) and looming for decades to come. I cannot stress how much this population needs attention from community resources.

Note: to those not concerned redefining Coercion = verbal pressure, welcome to my exact point. Psychology is the field of Science. It is not the field of misrepresenting statistics to the public by redefining terms in their journals that are not for public consumption in which their headlines and brief summaries are. I cannot tell you how infuriating as a scientist that is to me. Those of you that feel righteous in your point (SRSers) can march yourself right along with those in Anthropology who lead to the world's worst recorded holocaust for all time. Scientists have to be kept in check too!
