I just saw Wreck It Ralph, and it was a wonderful movie. However, there is a scene where Fix-It Felix and a tough-as-nails heroine named Sgt. Calhoun from a sci-fi shooter called "Hero's Duty" are in a candy-themed racing game and they get stuck in "NesQuik-Sand."

While Felix is panicking because he can't jump, she smacks him across the face. Shortly after, long ropes of Laffy-Taffy start laughing and descending from a tree, above. In order to get the Laffy-Taffy to laugh, Felix encourages her to beat him in the face, while he immediately fixes the damage with his hammer. She beats him several times before they can get free, giving him three black eyes, a mushed up nose, and even knocking out a tooth.

I couldn't believe it. This is a movie aimed at kids and gamers. This was a beautiful, sweet, and funny movie. But it was very disturbing for me to see Disney treat female-on-male physical abuse as something to explicitly laugh at. Men have enough problems coming out and admitting to being victims of abuse without it being rubbed in our faces like that. Just because Felix can "fix it" doesn't mean he should have to take hits for such a cheap gag.

I loved the movie, but I think it could have been much better without that scene. What the fucking hell were they thinking?
