How to tell if someone's mind is broken:

Ask them what it would take to convince them they are wrong. If they misdirect, can't say, or say something truly ridiculous then they don't actually know why they believe what they believe. If they have a reason (silly or not) or are honest about their ignorance then they're just mislead and will change for the better.

A small nit, the "subway incident" occurred, I believe, on the LA Blue Line, a light rail, not a subway.

I think this is a very interesting technique: take a story and re-tell it with genders reversed.

Earlier I was watching some "misandry in the media" videos linked here on /r/mensrights. The narrator kept referring to hypothetical commercials where the genders were reversed to display misogyny instead of misandry. But it would be so fascinating to actually make a series of videos like that. Simply take a whole set of maybe ten of those commercials, and make little skits that re-tell the stories in the commercials with the genders reversed. I think that would be very powerful.
