If this is based off the survey I think it is then it might be best to wait until the next nisvs report is published. I think this article is referring to the 2010 nisvs as the 2011 survey because it was released in December of 2011. While the respondent statistics do suggest what the article is stating the report itself does not make statistical comparisons between male and female statistics due to the number of respondents and the probability of statistical anomalies with some categories that were only first reported on that year. If this is the case then the 2011/2012 report will help to give clarity as to whether the 2010/2011 report statistics are an appropriate representation of national trends or if there is yet more data needed to substantiate any claims on the newer domestic abuse categories that are being included in the survey. If the 2011 survey report hasn't actually yet been released then it should be due sometime towards the end of the year. Until then I think if you want to raise awareness it would be best to make people aware of men's help lines and support centers in your area.

Your second source states in its limitations : All measures were assessed using only participant reports about their own perpetration of violence and that of their partners.The data are thus subject to all the biases and limitations inherent to this form of data collection, such as recall bias, social desirability bias, and reporting bias. Regarding reporting biases, there has been much discusson of whether there are differences in reported IPV by the gender of the reporter. A meta-analysis of the reliability of the conflict tactics scale concluded that there is evidence of under reporting by both genders, and that under reporting may be greater for men for more severe acts of IPV. It would have been ideal to collect violence data from both partners, but those data were not collected from the full Add Health sample.

This was not a study that was intended to be used as a measure of male/female female/male acts of IPV. The objective was to examine the prevalence of reciprocal and nonreciprocal intimate partner violence and to determine whether reciprocity is related to violence frequency and injury. The conclusion stated he context of the violence (reciprocal vs nonreciprocal) is a strong predictor of reported injury. Prevention approaches that address the escalation of partner violence may be needed to address reciprocal violence. It made no reference to rates of male to female or female to male IPV.

It correlated with other studies on frequency that show the most common form of DV is reciprocal, that next most common form female on male non reciprocal, least common form is male on female non reciprocal.

Do you have another place where it can be viewed?

Can you show me where you saw this happening?

This claim was made due to the us department of justice report showing that men account for the majority of victims of violent crime which includes rape, burglary and simple and aggravated assault. I don't know if I need to explain what is flawed with the logic here but upon looking at the tables this was not true for domestic violence.

Because I've never see that being done, all we do here is repeat what the legitimate data says and its has said since the 1970s that women are equally or more likely to commit DV.

They are the same limitations you will generally find in self reporting DV studies.

That person you were talking to is not well versed and confused rather than trying to abuse data. When mra's say that the data says that men are equally or more often victimised by DV, they are telling the truth.
