To be honest someone doing gender studies isn't really worth listening to. That's not me being arrogant, it's just that you get a better view on gender issues from talking to psychologists/sociologists anyway so the whole subject is kind of redundant. It really is like a very narrow form of history degree where you just read about what some other feminists did 30 years ago and then pad it out with pseudo-intellectual bullshit and invented language to obfuscate and prevent scrutiny.

I could go on, but really gender studies is not worth the time to discuss it nor the tuition people pay for it. I'd even say this to men, if men were actually allowed to take it.

lets take a look at the op of that thread...

Precisely as titled. Personally, I think their ultimate goal is to receive the same government benefits (or, failing that, to eliminate the ones that women receive). They probably seek enhanced reproductive rights (the male birth control shot, right to financially absolve oneself of a child prior to deadline for legal abortion), the right to end male circumcision, and higher likelihood of taking a child home in family court so that it's closer to 50/50, the right to force institutions that are women-only to accept men as well if they so desire to enter. They may push for punishment on false rape accusers (always a winning opinion), or alternatively try to shield the identity of accused rapists until proven guilty. Possibly end the epidemic of prison rape, too. Added: A removal of the double standard regarding violence and endangerment, though that falls under Gender Roles, and to remove the vilification that follows men. (ex.: All men are potential pedophiles/child snatchers) I do not agree with those points, but I do think that is their mandate, their goal. Once most of those reforms happen, I imagine that the MRA movement will probably wind down and dissipate; anything else would seem far too outlandish to garner any significant support.

So uh lets see. The points they say we support are:

Enhanced reproductive rights for guys
Increased balance in family courts
Obligating women-only places to accept men as well (? really? We do?)
Punishing false rape accusers.
Shielding the identity of the accused until after a guilty verdict.
End prison rape.
Remove double standards regarding violence and endangerment.

And they don't agree with these points?

Do they want prisoners to get raped? Do they want all men treated as pedophiles? Do they want as little reproductive rights for men as possible? Do they want to give false accusers unlimited protections?

Oh wait... they do.

The op for that thread is /exactly/ why we exist.

Ah, typical feminist 'openness to debate' and intellectual honesty. A good number of the deleted posts were mine....not that I didn't expect this kind of thing.
