It only makes sense. Testosterone increases your metabolic rate. The upside is that high testosterone might give you more energy, make you more awake, make it easier for you to lose weight. The downside is that your body might wear itself out faster, e.g.: by producing free radicals at a faster rate. It's all about tradeoffs, really.

As a male-to-female transsexual, I take estrogen and testosterone blockers. I drastically cut down on my testosterone blockers over time because I found out that I can't function with zero testosterone. Zero testosterone killed my sex drive and made me depressed, tired all the time, despite sleeping more than any normal human being. As far as I'm concerned, not having any testosterone is not a normal human state, neither for men nor women.

well from my memory of the Yahoo news article about it they bullshited that castrated slaves lived longer even when environment was controlled for as uncastrated royalty averaged about 40 years longevity. well, royalty may have had a lot more stress like, er, running/defending a country and all that type of stuff.

eunuchs pretty much ran around entertaining each other/royalty. a less stressful existence with resultant increase in longevity..?

where is the consideration of stress, psychological and physical, in these longevity debates?

resorting to genes/DNA is akin to saying women, before their rights movement, earned less/had less work responsibility because of their genes/DNA.

this is an obvious fial, and the same logic holds true for male longevity
