The author doesn't seem to grasp one of the most important concepts of working hard. He views hard work as merely a means to an end, the path to comfort and luxury. He doesn't see the inherent pride in a hard day's work, the good satisfaction that comes from actually contributing something to this life, no matter how small, instead of sitting on your laurels. I personally hate my job. However, it does feel good at the end of the day/night to be able to say that at least I did something.

As far as I can make out (The article is a bit of a rambling slog to read...) he is adding parts to the idea of the "red pill" that are not inherent to it.

The red pill (at least as I understand it) is the realisation that there are ways in which men are subjugated and screwed over by the female-biased system.

The blue pill is the idea that men have no problems, or at least have no reason to complain.

He is lumping together Pick-up Artists and MGTOW into the idea of the red pill. In truth they are a result of it, but not inherent to it.

To answer the headline question though, are both views just illusions, that assumes that everyone has true, unrestricted free will to live unshackled by society. Which is true in a way, but only if you forgo society.

I think the real question is whether society is a matter of choice.

I dunno, that mess I just wrote doesn't add up right in my head. I need more info on what the guy is on about first. What do others think?

I agree with the first half of Curebores comment. It answers any presumption about the video. The author korezaan clearly hasn't done his/her research on the subject.

Happiness is not a goal in itself, it is a measure of how well you have achieved valid goals. Raising successful kids is a good goal, having a career is a good goal. The rest is just muddying the waters.

Taking a red pill would involve knowing religion is a massive blue pill, that Donovan's homoerotic ideal of masculinity is a blue pill, that monarchs sold and continue to sell the masses huge blue pills ... and so on.
