Quick question, is there really a draft for american men? I've heard both no and yes

The draft its self still exists. but its currently inactive.
Basically, people have to register for it. but we aren't pulling names out of the list. (We could start any time.)

When people talk about the draft ending, they are talking at the time we stopped pulling names from the registry and sending them to war. But we still have the service, the frame work, and every thing we need to start back up

Some facts:

Males older then 18 have to register for it.
- Only Males aged 18-25 can register for it.
Not registering can get you in trouble.
In order to get financial aid or hold public office or get a job working for the government, one has to be registered for the draft.
Failing to register before you turn 26 means you can no longer register
- This means if you don't register before you turn 26 you lose the ability to get financial aid, work at government jobs, and hold public office, PERMANENTLY

There is currently no active draft in the US. However, the US still has an active Selective Service requirement for all men aged 18-26. All men are required to register. Failure to do so risks fines, imprisonment, and denial of government services.

All males are required to register their name and particulars on a directory called the Selective Service.

The Selective Service's sole purpose is to manage the process of a draft.

However, at least one president has stated that there will never be another draft, and our military considers itself to be 100% volunteers.

So, the answer to your question is officially no, but that could change at a whim.

Even when it's abolished there's nothing stopping the government reintroducing it, for example it's been introduced and removed several times in the UK from Wiki Britain introduced conscription for the first time in 1916 (halfway through World War I) and abolished it in 1920, and reintroduced it again in 1939 on the outbreak of World War II. It remained in force until 1960.

If another world war broke out I can bet you it would be re-installed. Just like in America if it was removed I would definitely be come back into action when there was an emergency.

this is how it works.

there is not a draft at this time... if there was.. men would be forced to go to war against there will.

but you must sign up with the selective service by the age of 25... or you can be charge and put in jail... as well as other issues like not being able to drive.

women are given sexist special treatment, and must not sign up, and get all the bennfits already that you get after singing up.

in the event of a draft.., the selective service will call you up and force you to go to war should you be selected to fight.

women get to stay at home while you fight and die for them... no they are not requirment to compensate you in any way... in fact women get the compesnation you get for being regsiterd already with needing to be registerd them selves.
