That book is fucking horrible and shouldn't be used as a respectable example of erotica. It reads like it was written by a 14 year old girl.

Girl here, and I totally agree with this video... Though I've never read 50 Shades of Grey.

Personally, I've watched porn with my bf, mostly the funny stuff, not to get turned on - just to laugh at, and - though we don't watch separately - I wouldn't care if he did. We've tried to make our relationship pretty level - I think.

Anyway - I love this subreddit because of stuff like this. Makes me think. =)

Not really that big of a double standard unless you extend it to "Objectification" where any time a man looks at a woman it's "Objectifying" but when a woman looks at a man it's "being sexually liberated" or some other layer of Jezebel crap.

I would also like to point out that romantic novels are in the same vein as pornography and women read those all the time. I can't be the perfect male that so many romance novel heroines run into, but I don't get jealous. Women won't have the same features as porn stars and they should also not get jealous.

My mother`s a huge feminist and all my life she spoke out about pornography, about how bad it was and how it demeans women, etc.

Just yesterday, she was talking with my wife who told her she read 50 shades of grey and without hesitation my mother says "Ooh, I have to borrow the books from you, my friends tell me I have to read it"

First of all, she`s 100% against any form of pornography but is gung-ho to read an explicit BDSM erotica novel. Second, the book is about a MALE dom fetish sexually torturing a submissive FEMALE which completely goes against her feminist ideal. Third, all of her friends are feminists as well and thoroughly enjoyed the book(s).

This level of hypocrisy is too_damn_high!
