Dr. Drew: "One billion women Gloria, it's incredible."

Gloria Allred: “Right and I think that the legal system is inadequate. For example, in many places, if a person beats a dog and hurts a dog, they will get a much more serious sentence than if they beat a woman, in the United States."

"I am saying it is important of course not to inflict violence on animals, but it is also important not to inflict violence on women. Until the laws start recognizing that women need protection from violence and that batterers need to be held accountable and have consequences seriously inflicted on them, this cycle of violence is going to continue. I commend Kevin for trying to do something about it."

Dr. Drew: "Well I also do, and can we talk about this topic, how do you go from where you were to where you are, what is that process like, it is hard for me as a physician to describe, but maybe you as someone who has been through it can help people to understand, how it works, how long it takes, and really how much intensive work it would take for someone like Chad Johnson."

Kevin Powell: "Any man who is engaged in violence needs therapy, years and years of therapy, in my case you are talking about two decades worth of therapy, to deal with the process of where I got these ideas definitions of manhood form because often times we are taught that masculinity is about domination and violence and competition and ego, we are taught that women and girls are not our equals which I respectfully disagree with at this stage of my life, and you see people joking about it, you know 'she deserved it'."

"And what I say to men and boys all the time is even if a woman says something to you that you don't like you should walk away from the situation violence is not the solution I have actually dealt with situations dr drew where I have had women say have to sleep with guns and knives under their pillows because they are fearful tat their intimate partners or their husbands are going to murder them, and we are talking about women who are the wives of ministers, rabis."

Dr. Drew: (Shouts) "HEY DADS OUT THERE, DADS ARE BEING VIOLENT! Those are your daughters sleeping with the pistols under the pillow because of the role that you played in their lives teaching them what a man does to women. it is not OK, it is what I call one of the gifts that keeps on giving."

Kevin Powell: "It is a vicious cycle and it is not going to end and you ask what we do we do, violence against women and girls is not going to end until men and boys play an active role in helping it to end which means that we as men and boys have to talk about it amongst ourselves,l what is a man and what does it mean to be a man, and why is it OK to engage in behavior. be it some of the cray music we see out there, the videos, some of the things that we see in the popular culture, some of the things we see in our community."

"And we basically OK it by saying noting at all, and I would day to men and boys, silence is agreement, even if you are not the kind of male who would ever put his hands on a girl or a woman, if you have people around you in your family, in your fraternity, in your religious community, anywhere, and you say nothing about it, on your sports team, you become just as guilty."
