If your friend could score an interview with Dr. Tara Palmatier of shrink4men.com fame that would definitely lend some credibility (not sure if any is needed) to the film. Even an over the phone interview would be better than nothing.

See if your friend can also examine "widescale & shallow" defamation, such as misandry in popular media, the latest srs public awareness trash, and the splc fiasco.

When he gives a figure like "1 out of 3 Americans is affected by abusive relationships" it sets my bullshit detector off. The problem is this is such a vague statement that it can easily conflate petty bullshit with serious abuse. And then he goes on to claim the problem is growing because we're not bringing "awareness" to it. Maybe it's just me, but I don't envision men's rights to be a haven for ribbon/bracelet/likethispage causes and oft cited stats that are based on poorly defined data. I definitely think women's abuse towards men is underreported and underrecognized, and that it's easy for them to take advantage of us, I'm just skeptical of the types of claims he made.

This project could really use more donations. I made one. I think this is an important project. Keep in mind it's not going to be a documentary, and may not be scientifically based, but the point is to tell a story and show something that happens all too often. And I've known so many men who've described receiving at least some amount of this type of emotional abuse from women. Most just consider it normal. I think it needs to be shown for the immature tyranny that it is and a movie project is a great way to do so. Society currently does too much to encourage this type of behavior from women in relationships.
