If its minor trivial things, like just lettign them get food or seated first and not made to be a big show that women go first then why worry? theres bigger fish to fry right now. But if its over stuff ofv value I would probably try and do something like maybe ask the women if they think them going first all the time would be discrimination if men went first all the time.

Well it's an organization, I don't think the rules are as strict as something like a job.

Honestly, if the genders were reversed and women were complaining, I'd laugh that they were so up in arms over something so small and dumb when there are far worse things out there. To answer your question, yes it is discrimination, but on such a minute scale that it practically doesn't count.

It's a minor thing, but it's still a small way of creating a second-class status. At family reunions with my extended family, the men always got their food first. The women didn't even line up until the men were done filling their plates. It always bothered me. One time I asked my great aunt why we did this, and she said, "Just always have." Then she thought about it for a while, and she said she remembered why.

The men always got their food first because as soon as they were done eating, they'd go back into the fields to work. But after the women ate, the next thing for them to do was clear the table and wash up. If the women finished eating before the men, they didn't have anything productive to do until everybody was done anyway, so it just made sense. Also, back in those days men were doing very very hard work, and food wasn't always plentiful. So women felt like they had to make sure the working-age men got all the food they needed, because if they didn't have the energy to work hard all day, the farm might be less productive and then everybody's screwed.

I liked her answer, it made sense. Then I brought up the fact that at this family reunion, all these dudes are just going to stuff their faces and then go sit on ass in front of a football game (not how I phrased it to her). Next family reunion, the women stood up and got in line for the food at the same time as the men. None of the older men made a fuss; I guess those old codgers knew that bullshit was long past its expiration date.

That is really a misandric mindset. I am a Mason and when we have various events that women are allowed to attend, they make the food and serve us and then wait until we get our plates (buffet-style) and are seated before they make plates. They never complain.

You gotta be more specific. For instance, when serving people during a dinner, you SHOULD serve women first, unless you're an extremist asshole.
