They all have one important thing in common other than not being a primary caregiver to their children, they are all selfless. Yes, selfless.

So, women are "selfless" in this situation? How are men described in the same position? I would guess "worthless".

My mother was non-custodial after the divorce- the four of us kids went to my father. My mother had been very abusive to us, especially the girls (she stopped hitting us boys when we got big, but continued the emotional abuse on all of us) for years, and so after a protracted divorce (ostensibly triggered by my father's infidelity, though the issues in the family went much deeper), my father and she reached an out-of-court settlement, whereby she would receive an enormous amount of alimony in exchange for my father keeping the four children (a point the four of us were adamant on, having all moved out to live with him during the divorce). My father later sued for child support, but got very little- we're currently in very significant debt (which is alright, because we're small business owners and can weather it). Some of us kids have begun to patch things up with our mother, but it's always awkward. Our family was much better after the divorce- less tension in the house, less fighting, less depression and behavioral problems. My father, as it happens, was an excellent homemaker as well as a businessman, and our gardens have never looked better, nor have we ever had better home meals. My mother seems happier as well- she spent a time studying to be an architect, before switching to charity work, and finally to being a landlord and hobby farmer.

A step towards egalitarianism. But the wording of the article bothers me. Such as the selfless comment others are talking about.

Mostly vanilla information, IMO, but I do appreciate you sharing. My oldest brothers' bio mom was non-custodial, and I thought that was really weird up until a few years ago. Now I think it was probably the only selfless thing she did in her life.
