I would say it is grosser than that. As a vulnerable baby, the mother is (typically) the source of all the danger in the child's life, and also the source of all the rescue from danger. If there is any amount of trauma for the child, this will often become a life long subconscious need to please women.

In cultures where fathers are more present in child rearing, you often see far less female moral superiority. The biggest example of this is the middle east, where nannies are fairly standard and fathers are a big part of children's lives.

Neither is a better situation than the other of course, the best situation is a child whose vulnerability is never tested, that grows up into an adult without baggage, but this is a very rare person.
