The State of Texas put a levy on 2 of my accounts for child support arrears (which I don't even owe!!!) for approx $14,000 and they liquified by retirement account and stocks. They then took $14,000 out of BOTH accounts, and haven't removed the levys. So now I'm out all the brokerage fees ($300), and I will have to pay taxes and the penalty for early withdrawal from the IRA since it was pre-tax.
Is this legal? How can they do this? Now I'm broke and can't access my accounts or even pay the child support for this month.
What can I do? I have to prove that the money was paid, and then wait for them to refund it, minus all the fees and taxes. Not to mention it was an error on their part! I feel like I've just been robbed!
