You NEVER EVER VIOLATE A RESTRAINING ORDER. I feel terrible for this guy but knowing how the system is he made all the wrong moves. Still absolutely terrible.

Happens all the time. I suspect some lawyers explain this scam to their clients on the sly, carefully couching it in hypothetical terms.

"Well, if he were to violate the order, he would be arrested, and this troublesome child custody issue would be effectively resolved in your favor."

"For instance, even if you were to call him, say asking about child support, and he interpreted something you said in your private telephone call as some sort of invitation to come over, for instance if you were to mention that his child missed him, then he shows up, naturally you would be frightened and call the police. They would arrest him."

"If you have any questions about this important information I've given you, please remember that, naturally, our conversations are confidential, but if you were planning any sort of dishonest action involving the other party, I might be required to report it to opposing counsel, so lets not discuss this further. If the other party does happen to show up at your home, just make sure to call the police and then call me."

I'll never understand what goes through a womans mind when she decides to tell a lie of that caliber. don't they know that their false accusation is going to ruin the mans life?

I specialize in defending men and women from domestic violence charges. It's unfortunate that this story relates nothing out of the ordinary.

A few things about the article dont add up. Why did her son get shot at? What was the timeline of events? What really happened? And why did he get 7 years for only violating a restraining order?

It seems to me that the article isn't giving out the complete truth. You don't get shot at and 7 years in prison for something of that caliber.
