Why not an engagement ring for her to get him, why a watch? Yes, a watch is cheaper. It's also different. If you want a marriage to be equal, why not start out the marriage on an equal premise. The average salary in america is $45018. That's 3751.5 per month.
It's bullshit, but let's pretend women only make 0.75 to the dollar - that's 2813.625.
The saying is "two months salary" for an engagement ring - so that's a $5627.25 watch.

Also he gets to keep it no matter what happens. Come on feminists. Let's hear you demand equality here.
