The first sentence reads:

After a long legal battle, the court ruled it would be pointless to order shared care of the girl because the mother was determined to ignore court orders and destroy the daughter's relationship with her father.

So the courts are sending the message that bad behavior should be rewarded. A mother who wants her child's relationship with her father should clearly get sole custody!

If the mother is psycho, the child should be given to the father. If he wants to have the child.

Most likely he is paying child support and can not see the child

What the judges don't explain is why the father was at least not given minimal contact, given that apparently shared care was unworkable, or why the father was not given sole custody, given that he was willing to facilitate the child's relationship with the mother.

You never see judgments like this where male child abusers are reluctantly given sole custody because, well, what else can we do?

A real cop-out that is a disgrace to the court system.

Not an Onion article surprisingly. Anyone who has a child in that kind of legal environment is an idiot or overly naive. Some guys have my sympathy because these laws weren't in place when they had the child but looking at trends, you would be a fool to have a kid.

So men, go back to your nomadic ways. Hit, quit and keep your disposable income. Women will be back to living in tents in no time if men just stopped enabling them.

"The courts have been very careful not to in any way be seen to be complementing, congratulating or condoning the actions and attitudes of each of the parents, and this isn't a case where one should see that the mother has been vindicated in her actions.

A yes, the parent totally cares about the cliffnotes of the trial which say that the judge doesn't approve. I'm sure mom will think in 10 years "Damn judge, not complementing, congratulating or condoning my actions"

Not vindicated? I guess getting sole custody for your child is a meaningless action according to these courts.

i'm a woman and mother .. i find this disgusting, seriously I love both my parents but was always a daddies girl and wouldn't dream of depraving a child of their father.
