If I have dated an alpha male that ranks around 8, how will I know if the next man is higher or lower rank? Also, who determines which level they are on? Can't I make the decision on who I rank lower/higher? Or is there a "flowchart" of sorts?

The smp decides. The laws of supply and demand. And at the same time it's about your interpretation of the mans value. Coke is more popular than Pepsi but some people still prefer Pepsi.

Well, do you prefer him? If you can't tell, he's probably about the same, at least, to your initial evaluation. You need to get to know him. What's important to you? Looks? is he better looking? Job and income? etc etc.

I think your female nature is causing you problems here as you're don't seem confident in your ability to make decisions and want someone else to take responsibility.

You can, but as a woman, your self-image and emotions are much more dependant on the groups view. If you think a guy is a 10 when you first meet him, but all your friends think he's a loser and when out in public no other women show him any interest, this will then lower his value in your eyes.
