Does anyone find is utterly ridiculous that society feels that it's appropriate that a minor can be held financially accountable for the next 18 years for having sex with an adult?

Furthermore, that no one bats an eye that he will be expected to pay child support to upwards of a quarter million a month to support a child?

That these same people would most likely be condemning the man if the circumstances were that he were the adult... That even when the man isn't wealthy he should be on the hook for child support he's unable to cover, he would deserve to go to jail for statutory rape for at least a year, go to jail for failure to pay child support, and be on the sex offender list for life?

The double standard is so blatant... And Justin Bieber cannot hope to not get out of paying either STFU money or child support without making himself look bad somehow... To quote my mother, "man up". If the genders were reversed, no one would question that Bieber (a girl in the hypothetical case) was the victim and should not be expected to do anything other than have their rapist be punished.

I still think rape laws and child support laws are all ridiculous and stuff for the most part, especially with respect to minors, but if the lives of boys and men are being shredded by these same laws and women get a free pass while their victims get shredded by the same law... Something needs to be fucking done. It's very likely that it was completely consensual and she didn't seek pregnancy so it wasn't really rape, but given the structure of the law, it's equally possible that she knew he was on the hook no matter what and she was going to have a free ride for the rest of her life... Now the latter situation is clearly why we have laws protecting minors, so why the fuck are minors not protected from having to pay child support?

I hope Bieber fights it, but I know that even he wanted to, he can't given the blatant double standard people hold males up against.
