The police are one thing, but the prosecutors aren't supposed to be punished in our legal system. In the US, we have an [1] adversarial system. The prosecutors' job is not to seek the truth. Their job is to give the best reasons they can to commit the suspect, and if they aren't given more than one suspect by the police, they bring that suspect to the jury. The real problem here is that juries convict without being beyond a reasonable doubt, and we have nothing in place to make them.

The treatment which the young men received at the hands of investigators one year later when brought in for questioning was also dubious, as they were held in custody and interrogated for hours before some signed confessions. Although DNA evidence recovered from the girl’s body did not match any of the five defendants, and even though the confessions were questionable, prosecutors moved forward with the case against them.

There is no excuse for the prosecutors unethical behavior

I submitted a BBC article a few days ago.

Michael Schaap is speaking from experience. His Jewish parents had him circumcised as a baby. He believes it is "morally wrong to cut off any part of another person's body when there is no medical reason to do it. It's mutilation".

Michael made the controversial documentary "Mum, Why Was I Circumcised?" partly motivated by the anger he felt throughout his teenage years.

"When you do it with a boy, there's no way back. I don't know how sex would be with a prepuce. It made me angry that somebody else decided for me, to do something that I probably would not have done if I was deciding for myself."

Remember, some day it could be your male descendant being angry at being mutilated by his parents without his consent. Think about it.
