I think that boys and girls learn differently, and that boys need a classroom environment that is tailored to them in order to be successful. I also think that gender-integrated public schools have long worked to gear education towards the girls, so boys will not get a proper education at a school that isn't designed for them.

If I ever have kids, I will ensure that I have the resources to at least send my male children to private boarding schools first.

What I hear the feminists saying there is that single-sex education might not be good for males OR females.

I think it should be a legal option, but wouldn't choose it for my own kids.

Anecdotal evidence only, but I went to co-ed schooling through 5th grade and boys-only from 6th through 12th, and I am convinced that it is one of the best things that could have happened to me.

I may have lost out a bit on social skills, but I picked those up pretty quickly in college. What I gained instead was an environment where i could focus on actually learning instead of maneuvering the white-water rapids that are teenage hormones (both amongst girls and boys).

Based on my own experiences I would prefer to send my own children (both girls and boys) to single sex education, at least during adolescence. I think that separating sexual socialization from education is healthy (to a degree).

Single sex education is as bullshit as single race education. It doesn't help in any way, and if anything only creates more of an us vs them attitude.

Article aside, single sex education has shown to improve test scores in both male and female classrooms. The problem is, a lack of socialization with the other sex.

Uniforms also tend to help test scores, and education in general.
