I read the review and get the point you were trying to make by linking to it.

In time people will realize that willpower is what all of this is really about... all of the gender discussions, all the marital stuff, all of it.

Sounds to me that the author of the review has a lot better understanding of her own identity than any critic possibly could. Then again, personality and identity don't always match up.

Women. Want. To. Be. Bossed.

Ok not all. But it seems like every woman I talk to, regardless of political or social views (I am lucky enough to have friends that run the gamut from girl-power-strong-independent-christian-woman to zeitgeist-pot-smoking-no-need-for-a-relationship-libertarian) want a man who takes charge in some way.

This isn't as crazy as it seems. I'm a woman, I used to be very "I'm a strong independent woman, I don't need a man telling me what to do, I'm going to act like a bitch because I'm empowered and it's my right!" And then I met a man who said, "No. You're being a cunt, you're better than this. You're intelligent and clever and you should have more respect for the people around you and I'm not committing to anything until you calm the fuck down." I was -smitten-. I fought it, but he's right. And I think inside, past the social stigma bullshit, a lot of women (NOT ALL, I said) feel the same way.

They just can't say it, or risk being ostracized. Or they feel like men will take advantage of it. There are assholes out there, after all. It's a tight rope we're walking, those of us who really crave that man who is not a pushover or an asshole. We want a BOSS.
