Hello all!

Hello and happy Trollurday to you.

The question I want to ask today is how exactly the people in this subreddit are different from feminists when so many of your comments come off as misogynistic.

Well, we are different from feminists because we reject feminism and the false assumptions it is built around. Some of these assumptions are the very foundation of feminist arguments. One major one would be male privilege. Another one would be that gender is a social construct. Question: If manhood is a social construct that privileges men above women, then why is it called male privilege...the term male denotes a sexual dimorphic component of biology. There are many other assumptions in feminism that we don't agree with, like men historically dominating women.

Also, please define misogyny. I have seen it used in so many contexts by feminists that I really have no idea what it means anymore. I have even seen it defined as disrespect or distrust of women or a particular woman. Question: Why should I trust someone based on their sex organs? Question: Why should I respect someone based on their sex? Trust and respect have to be earned and no person is entitled to either from me for simply existing.

It seems to me that you are struggling with us not accepting your female social privilege. Anytime someone makes any sort of negative comment about a woman or women, no matter how true or deserving, it is labelled as misogyny because women seem to think they are deserving of being protected by someone, apparently their emotional states are even deserving of protection.

I agree that there are some areas where men need equality and protection - issues like parental rights and cases of abused men.

I am glad you recognize this. Maybe you should also recognize that men, as individuals and groups, should have the right to define what maleness is and what our roles in society should/shouldn't be. One more reason we won't be like feminists is because feminists fight to allow women liberation from their traditional roles while also fighting to keep men in their traditional roles. If you don't believe me then go and look at any feminist debate about fatherhood. Then ask yourself why men are still held to the traditional male standard of being a financial/resource provider but limited in their natural rights based role of actually being a father.

But it's not as if women don't face inequality issues as well. Can't we just agree that everyone deserves basic human rights, and fight for those rights as a united front, rather then dividing and creating hate and vitriol on both sides?

I have seen that you talk about abortion but I don't really give a fuck. I will fight for your abortion rights as soon as I have legal protections against paternity fraud, child custody, false rape/abuse claims, and even more importantly equality in reproductive rights. Get me the ability to force a girl to have a abortion, because I don't believe any woman should have the unilateral choice to make me into a father against my will, or at the very least a financial abortion and I will fight right along with you.

And for those of you on this subreddit who do not believe men and women are equal (biologically different in some ways, but equal) how do you explain that as anything but sexism? Believing two people of different races are not equal is the definition of being a racist, so how is it different with men and women?

Well, race and sex are two completely different sets. I really wonder how advanced the average woman truly is. You are suppose to be able to differentiate between two objcts of the same set and two sets that are of the same property by about age ten. You seem to lack this. A apple can be both red and green, but usually not at the same time. Just because something is green and something is red does not mean they are both apples. Got it? Maybe not? Race is determined by the amount of melanin in your skin. Sex is determined chromosomes and hormones. To add a 3rd variable, let's look at ethnicity. Ethnicity is determined by genetic differences and are hereditary but usually not random.

Now, let's ask what a human right is??? Let us also differentiate between privileges and entitlements. All three of these words have changed slightly in meaning over the years and all three are used colloquially in a manner that is not consistant. This is getting long so I will let you sort this last bit out for yourself. But, I will say that there are many different forms of rights. There are natural rights, which pertain in the western context to things that are thought of as natural and were rarely questioned until feminism came along. There are legal rights, which are codified into laws and are meant to be protected by the state or ruling body...think the constitution. Then there are privileges, these come in many flavors, just like rights, and can be social or economic or cultural or etc.

But anyways, to answer your question. I can believe that men and women are not equal on some level but still think they should have equal opportunities. The same is true of races. On average black people tend to be taller than white people. Should I be able to force the NBA, through white short person Affirmative Action, to allow me to play for the Bulls?

Anything that goes against the social norm or 'hivemind' is easily seen as wrong or offensive. Seeing as we often talk about women, the line is easily drawn.

There sometimes are a few real mysoginistic comments, yes, but they quickly get downvoted all the way, unless it was a clear joke or sarcasm or something of that order, which, the general opinion here, is fine. It's a joke, humor, if you get offended by it then that's your fault.

But it's not as if women don't face inequality issues as well.

Could you explain what equality issues women in our society face?

Oh and equal rights/oppertunities does not equal outcome.

What? Believing there are biological differences is sexism? Believing there are racial differences is racism? I think you need to review your definitions. Sexism is the discrimination or hatred of people based on sex. Racism is the discrimination or hatred of people based on race.

The simple answer is that we believe in a mostly hands-off moderation policy here.

Women can say misandrist statements calling men pigs & rapists here - and won't be censored. The same rule applies to men.

Of all the gender reddits, this is the least censored... and that goes for both misogyny and misandry.

Misogynist: A man who thinks women are rational, intelligent, mature human beings and expects them to act that way.

What inequality issues? Women's issues are already well represented and well funded.

The government doesn't treat men and women as equal. In some individual cases men and women are nearly equal. However, there are biological differences in physical size, brain functions and hormones. Are apples equal to oranges? Both are tasty and nutritious, but they're not equal. How is that sexism?
