I just found out yesterday that my college friend was kidnapped by his mom and taken to the United States. He's been told his father was a deadbeat, a drug dealer and never wanted to see him.

Eventually he went to visit his father who lived in another country and found out the truth. It was all lies. He had been kidnapped as a baby and his father had been trying to get him back ever since. He has legal documentation to prove it.

He confronted his mother with the evidence and she threatened to kick him out of the house if he ever told the police. He called his dad for advice. She found out and kicked him out. Now he's staying with a friend.

He's in a total state of shock, not sure what to do. He's torn between going back to another country to live with his father. Or finish his college education here in the states.

He's trying to figure out a way to stay here because his education is his first priority right now. Btw, he's got dual citizenship.

Are there any victim services, financial aid type deals out there that he could look into? I'm just worried about him having a place to stay and being able to finish college. I advised him to go see a lawyer to figure out his legal options. Any advice other than that?

Edit: thank you everyone for all your help and suggestions!
