Let's look at this from a third perspective.

Why is there not an equality rule that transexuals must make up 50% of any boardroom or political leadership?

Why not any given race, sexuality, or religion too? Why not by weight? Why not gingers?

Hint : It isn't about equality, it is about women lobbying groups looking out for themselves and only themselves.

While I don't play the douche or turd voting game I think competence should come before any politician's gender and leave sex out of the equation. Lets just put a female because "its her turn" is quite stupid.

The NDP party is full of useless hacks, contributing nothing to our national fabric and instead use every method to undermine the economy and traditional institutions. Just watch them in Parliament - frumpy and clownish. File under 'irrelevant'.

You know... so what? These are only rules that apply to that specific political party that they imposed on themselves. They probably did it in an effort to gain votes from women. Sounds like a smart long term political move.
