Most parents who can't pay child support don't make much money and can't afford to pay, but would if they could. Some simply avoid it. Those who have money to spend on gambling are probably of the latter kind. If they are the former, they probably don't mind somuch. If they are the latter, I've got little sympathy.

Too bad they don't withholding the winnings of custodial parents who refuse visits for non-custodial parents. There should be a registry for that too and there should also be periodic roundups and arrests, suspension of driver's licenses and professional licenses, and even a withholding of wages which can be released once visits take place.

Of course a change in custody laws to a preference for shared parenting would eliminate most of the need for both.

as much as i think you shouldnt be going to a casino if you are way behind on child support, does anyone else think the most misandric part of the article is that it assumes the parent is a deadbeat?

Sorry, I know there are abuses in the child support system, but for the most part the money is really needed and not supporting your kid while you can still afford to go to casinos is just wrong.

I'm generally on board with stuff on /r/MR, but frankly, if you owe child support money, you shouldn't be at a casino unless you're some sort of crazy math genius.

I'm not really seeing a problem with this. If you're in arrears on your child support, you should not be gambling.
