If this guy is continually doing this -- you could likely sue him for libel and the damages could be astonishingly high.

If this happens in the future, I recommend getting the Policeman's ID number (they are required to provide this in this case). File a complaint about this unnecessarily rough behavior. Also, if you have the time -- start taking pictures and documenting that dbags behavior with timestamps.

Sorry to hear this happened to you man; cops are almost always overzealous assholes.

Just for clarity though: the six chicks and the douchebag guy were downstairs, hear you, came out, and starting shouting at you because they thought you were beating your girlfriend? Also, why didn't your girlfriend try to say "he didn't hit me"? I understand 100% why she would have a panic attack / have general issues with cops in the first place, but she deff. should of said something.

The one part of the whole story I dont get is how the guy outside got involved. One minute you and you're partner are in your apartment on the third floor, next minute some guy outside the building is calling the cops (for no apparent reason). What did I miss in between?

This sounds like just more of the same old police state bullshit. Call your local ACLU or Men's Right groups and see if there is anyway to file a complaint or lawsuit. There is no way you should have been treated like that.

The more I hear these police horror stories, the more it seems that this generation of policemen are either driven by fear or have lost all objectivity because they are clouded with cynicism. Perhaps the training being provided is not adequate.
