In 1928, the American Medical Association published a journal article in which renowned British doctor R.W. Cockshut wrote: "I suggest all male children be circumcised. I am convinced that masturbation is much less common in the circumcised."

Do you think R.W. Cockshut was projecting issues from other areas of his life?

The most surprising issue to me was that I had no idea that there was the entire industry backing of reselling it. For the majority of my life I just attributed this as being a mistake that comes with scientific myths and that it would phase out now that information is coming out that the line of thinking is untrue.

I honestly didn't even know for sure that I had been circumcised until I was in my late teens. I thought that some people just had larger foreskins than others the same way such a thing happens with women and the labia or whatever - and I never really even realized that I was anything other than normal. Then, of course, I had heard of the myths that I, at the time, didn't "not" believe - and rationalized that there was some sort of tangible positive health benefit.

However, knowing that the potential worth of it can be upwards of a hundred thousand dollars makes it rather obvious the motivation for perpetuating this is not tied to anything other than greed.

The other interesting thing I've learned is that there is apparently a restorative procedure. I've always wondered and thought of what the difference would be - I was circumcised at birth and, of course, you don't know what you're missing if you've never had it to begin with. Does anyone have any more information for this? Anyone have personal experience? Does it make a difference? Does insurance cover it?

Can we see the very common situation of foreskins that tear, reform, then tear again, continually getting tighter until they have to be removed or opened up surgically?
