I'm posting in both feminisms and MR.

I think that the issues that face men are often the flip-side of the ones that face women. Sexism goes both ways, and maintaining reasonable dialogue between feminists and MRAs should be possible.

Men are expected to be career-driven providers, and are distrusted if they show too much interest in children. Women are expected to want children, and are stigmatised if they are heavily career-driven.

Masculinity and femininity is policed in both directions.

Both men and women are given contradictory messages about sex. Women are expected to be sexually meek, at least publicly, and are slut-shamed if they're not.

Edit: My western privilege is showing. Men and women suffer, all over the world, in varying degrees.

Balancing the mom vs. career-woman dichotomy. The message from feminism since the mid 70's has been that motherhood = slavery and "real" women have careers. IMHO, this conflicts with a woman's natural desire to raise children and run a household.

Alright guys, you're all missing the point. What I would like to do here is to take a moment to think about the real issues that women do face. Being a mens rights group we don't do that enough. If you think there is a "fake" issue that women claim, there is no reason to bring it up here. I'm wondering what guys here think the "real" issues are for women.

In my place, most women are supposed to get a job AND completely take care of the kids (when they are at home) and most house chores. I'm trying my best to be objective here, but I can't help to think that since men are going to get screwed with alimony if things go wrong, that actually makes sense.

Nothing may be the right answer, though camplight's answer is different than nothing and maybe right too.

There's definitely equal opportunity in careers. No rational fear of rape or DV, or there is at least significant opportunity of retribution when it occurs.

Women should fear that men will shun or fear relationships with them. Avoiding trust or expectations of them. Especially, if they could ever be single with children. Destroying social happiness and its value of children.

I personally don't care about any of the social issues men and women deal with. So, I don't care that men are expected to be providers and women are expected to be child-rearers. If a man or woman choose to fit those roles because that is what is expected of them and they don't want to, then that is on them.

So, the only issues out there, IMO, are legal issues. False rape, alimony, child custody, circumcision being legal, child support, and domestic violence (as in not being prosecuted when it's female to male, we all know a female can accuse of domestic violence and she will win) come first off the top of my head and they affect men the most.

The only legal issues I see that women might face are the fact that a lot of rapes go unprosecuted, but studies on that are tenuous at best, and again, it's the woman's own fault if she chooses not to come forward (which is another reason given for how many rapes go unprosecuted).

i think CURRENTLY the biggest issue women face is 'liberated womyn' messing up the whole gender equality thing for everybody.

Women have lots of benefits and special privileges without having earned them. Eventually they will be expected to actually be equal to men. They will be expected to be drafted into the military, work an equal number of hours, share equal custody of children, compete equally in academic disciplines, etc., etc. The biggest issue will be when these bills come due and they are forced to bear the burdens and responsibilities of equality.

Can't think of any; western women have it made.

Here's something I came up with several months back when I still thought maybe women did have some issues to worry about. I struggled to think of any ways women might have it worse than men. In parentheses is what I think now that I know more.

In the end women are naturally inferior to men except at giving birth and all the other "issues" women have today are a direct result of women being less capable than men.

How women have it worse

Try to think of ways in which women are actually worse off (either through nature or societal oppression) in Western society today, where men are not also. Who’s really worse off?

Nature:

Women are naturally worse at the higher end at science and math and making important discoveries (still true, but I'll add that women are less intelligent in every way - this isn't something we can fix or should try to fix)

Women are naturally less strong (still true, who cares)

Women have periods (woe is me)

Women go through the birthing process (and men work and fight and die in wars for them, big woop)

Women have a lower tolerance to alcohol (so?)

Society:

Women can suffer the disadvantages of using birth control (it's their choice, and they don't need birth control unless they are being slutty - there are alternate methods anyway)

It’s less acceptable for women to act strong-willed (a woman who is strong-willed AND COMPETENT will do just fine, it's just that most strong-willed women are that way because they are incompetent bitches)

Women are called sluts by others for enjoying sex (yeah, by other women, and in fact slut-shaming is necessary for a successful society because women cannot control their desires as men can)

Women are more likely to be raped outside of prison/jails (women can avoid rape most of the time by taking proper precautions, and men still face violence twice as often. Half of all rape accusations are false and as many men are raped in prison as women outside of it. In the end rape of women is rare but still something that can be helped by teaching women to be less slutty and by stopping the demonization of normal male sexuality)

Women may have a harder time networking through traditionally male methods such as golf (this isn't really true, women golf too and if she's competent she'll network just as fine - at the same time women get their own networking groups in school and at work while men get none for themselves, women get many more networking opportunities handed to them)

Women may be assumed to be less skilled at technical aspects in those roles (that's only because they usually are - if they are as good as man then they are respected just as much as a man)

I don't dislike women at all. The fact that women are inferior to men has nothing to do with whether I like them. It is simply politically correctness that tells you we should avoid using logic and reason to analyze an issue, when the results of doing so aren't in line with what feminists would like you to believe. I love my girlfriend and I like women who are good people and am friends with them. I don't hate them because on the whole they are inferior, just as I do not hate the mentally handicapped. I can still acknowledge their handicap. Not all women are inferior to all men, but most women are inferior to most men.

That's just the way it is, man. WOMEN are the ones who want to put their heads in the sand when they don't want to face the reality of a situation. WOMEN are the ones who skew or ignore data when it doesn't suit their results. It's just sad that our culture has morphed into one when even most MEN behave like WOMEN but it should not surprise us when we grow up in a culture dominated by feminist teachers, a world where boys are not allowed to be boys but instead must sit still in their chairs and act like obedient girls. There are few men left. It's not to late to be one of them.
