Yes, it would make sense that men who try to have sex more have more sex.

I have no idea why they titled the article that way. It said nothing about why women are attracted to them, only that men with the "dark triad" are prone to have more brief affairs, and thus more partners, than men without.

Also:

these traits may have an innate, genetic component that explains why some men seem unable to stop themselves behaving badly.

OH NOES IT'S MY GENES! Some men may have a stronger genetic predisposition to this kind of behavior than other men, but I don't buy that they are "unable to stop themselves". Citation definitely needed.

While there are likely biological explanations for much human behavior, I'm getting incredibly sick of sloppy "evolutionary psychology" - its barely a science and requires a good deal of speculation.

We all have attractions towards unhealthy partnerships. It's not like you'd end up in a happy relationship if you actually ended with an honest-to-god MPDG. Also being drawn to near-crazy females with a dark past that you want to try to protect from the world isn't very healthy either, nor likely to get you a sane stable partner.

The big difference is that most people know the difference between a underlying destructive draw and a real, honest to god connection. Well at least they do once they grow up, people are pretty stupid when they're young.

I hate when people resort to explaining things through evolution. The simple analysis is that women look for the dark triad or perceive it even if the guy wasn't necessarily putting it out there. Usually a consequence of completing the affair is validating the existence of the dark triad; the women therefore can say "see! all you men are the same. look at what you've done."
