Can you explain to me why the appointment of CRCs to men indicates that Stephen Harper hates women? Did he directly choose them? Is there evidence that female candidates were more qualified than the male?

I do find it a little hard to believe that there wasn't even one woman who deserved it, but that doesn't mean these men won't do great things.

Suzanne Fortier, head of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) was one of the people asked by Clement to look into the selection process and she argues that the problem mainly boils down to too few women in the pool of applicants. Women aren’t heavily represented at senior levels in the fields of research where the federal government was looking for research chairs, Fortier said. The four main areas include: environmental sciences and technologies; natural resources and energy; health and life sciences and information and communication.

This alone should be enough to silence anybody.

I could say that none of those 19 men are of Asian descent. ZOMG RACISM. Are there any jews among those 19 men? No? ZOMG NAZISM.

I'm not saying it is impossible there is bias. I am saying that because 50% of the world is one gender and 50% is the other doesn't mean that any sampling group which hasn't got the 50/50 divide is sexist. If I were to pick a random person a hundred times, I can assure you I would have not a single Americans in that group. I have no prejudice against Americans, though odds are most of those 100 people will be Belgian. (mainly because I live in Belgium)
