Men Acting out while asleep: a strange sleep disorder. In the middle of the night, as they tried to sleep, he became someone else, screaming obscenities, grunting, kicking, punching Bonnie in the arm, violently hurling himself out of bed. Anyone have any experience of this?

One of my son's has done something like that while asleep. I assumed he was dreaming.

Apparently something like that happened to me when I was in the dentist's office after they had given me anesthesia to remove my wisdom teeth. The dentist only managed to get two out before calling it quits because he was tired of me punching at him. I don't remember a thing about it. Ironic thing is that I wouldn't hurt a fly normally.

Dunno if it's related, but what was told to me about the experience sounds very similar to what you described.

Once many years ago. My ex said I woke her up because I was talking in my sleep. She said I was trying to get other people to move boxes and barrels from one place to another. She said I was moving and thrashing around like I was working. At one point she said I told someone to move a barrel and just for giggles she said, "Go move it yourself!" At that point I swore, reached over and grabbed her and literally threw her out of the bed onto the floor.

Fortunately, she wasn't hurt. But I would have never known anything about the incident if she hadn't said anything.

I've told this story to my Wife of 20+ years. She says I occasionally talk in my sleep, but she has never "seen or heard" me do anything like that.
