Yeah, the people saying stupid shit like that obviously have no idea what they are talking about.

Work is freaking work, dammit. The breaks you get aren't very long, and you aren't dicking around all day, either.

Just comparing the two, homemaking and say, a senior software management position making $90K/year(read: senior tech troubleshooter), is stupid. When you're homemaking, you quickly finish things that need doing, and then you have to make stuff up to do or dick around the rest of the day. In the tech job, you may be able to get some time to mess around, but most of the time you're getting shit done, because if you don't, the servers go down, or people lose their cable/satellite for their TVs, or all kinds of crazy shit like the customers being billed multiple times or the company losing billions of dollars because of idiot management you're doing your best to inform of the consequences before they do something stupid with the system.

The notion that "women's work", which is mostly caring for yourself and a few others, is equal to "men's work", which is providing services to hundreds, thousands, and millions other than yourself, is ridiculous.
