It shouldn't take a genius to see that there is a serious problem with the idea that gender is entirely a social construct.

We see sex based behavior differences in creatures that are not complex enough to have culture. I don't have a long list handy, but consult any wild life book and it will explain how males of the species behave and how females behave.

Now, binary sex is present all the way down through the tree of life, even among plants. From this, we can infer that it showed up pretty damn early. Since animals that have binary sexual forms generally also have sex based behaviors, the obvious conclusion we should draw is that humans will have behaviors based on their physical sexual wiring as well. To believe otherwise is to hold that humans lost a significant trait that is present everywhere else in the animal kingdom. We should demand pretty strong evidence to persuade us of this fact.

Oh, but I forgot... Humans are special creations not related to the dirty, mucky, mechanical animals the Good Lord filled the world with for us to lord over.

I learned about this in a women's studies class as a story about the continued abuse of a boy (wtf were the parents thinking allowing it to continue?!) and how gender is not all cultural. I remember the instructor was pretty pissed/empathetic about the whole thing.
