Just like KKK opposed racial integration because they consider the average black person as a criminal, feminists oppose the bill because they think that the average man is an abuser. This is just misandric fear mongering.

So for example NOW, one of largest and most powerful feminsit organisations in world believe in this (against shared parenting) Despite it being very popular with men and women in public sometimes getting 90% support, NOW managed to kill off many dozen attempts to create shared parenting through highly effective protesting and pressure, sometimes violently.

To answer your question, they are speaking from an idealogical position, not a proper breakdown of what is good and bad, and what is the best way forward. I men their approach doesnt even help women as a society, but they are too narrow minded to see that. Those people became politicians, guardian journalists, campaigners, heads of charities, NGOs, reporters, bloggers, activists, got into politics.... that is the type of people who are making these decisions and statements.... that is exactly the type of person who runs these groups like NOW..... they cant even manage their own bitter, and highly damaged lives, do you think they will make wise decisions?

Domestic violence is run by those people too, which may go someday to explain why after 50 years and hundreds of billions of dollars, domestic violence according to them is much worse... do you think these people can solve DV?

One thing they (feminists) are missing that nobody brings up. While child abuse is slightly more often coming from men (if were counting by those charged with it) it is much more likely to be from a step-father (or unrelated man in the household, eg. mom's boyfriend) than from a bio-father. in short: even if we accept that more men are abusive, it still doesn't mean mom should get custody. The fact is, if one parent's household is going to be an abusive one, it only makes sense for the child(ren) to have another parent's household to be safe in and have space to report said abuse.
