In Australia the msjority are opposed to it (though it is still legal). The US is really backwards here.

A federal law prohibiting Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) was enacted in 1996 in the United States. and 35 states have passed their own anti FGM laws.

According to a study by Intact America 78% of mothers had their sons circumcised if health providers asked, compared to only 45% of mothers who were not asked. this mean just by making it illegal will decrease the rate by a large percentage.

It weirds me out how people can see that cutting off a girl's labia is mutilation and will continue to deny that cutting off a boy's foreskin is comparable.
