Personally I think 10 days is still way too less compared to the mandatory 8 weeks of leave for mothers, and it seems that the original proposal was for 4 weeks. However, this is a bit of a sign for the better.

The measure is modest compared with other European countries. The European Union, of which Switzerland is not a part, passed a directive last year requiring member states to extend their parental leave to four months, two of which cannot be transferred from one parent to another.

The two months that can be transferred will still push men to not take them off and offload them to their wives, that way propagating the concept that women have to take care of the children. Any system like that will propagate what many people think is a wage gap, where men make more money than women, if only by virtue of never being allowed to be with their family, and by virtue of being pressed in the role as breadwinner. Small steps to progress should be pressed, and these are some of the few laws that are actually enacted to benefit men.
