After Occupy Wall Street, there was sudden and ubiquitous promotion of the most divisive and hostile forms of feminism that apparently came out of the blue. Pushing these forms of feminism out of their niches in academia and into the mainstream was the perfect way to divide one half of the population against the other, all with the added benefit of making those falling in the misandry trap feel progressive and righteous in the process.

While I doubt it happened in an entirely orchestrated, conspiratorial manner, it's hard for me to think of a better way for those in power—the real oppressors, who act on behalf of their rich donors and against ordinary people—to avoid serious challenges to their power than to convince large masses of people that it's not the bigwigs who are the enemy, but rather the other half of the population, regardless of their rung on the social ladder. It's a classic case of divide and conquer and it sadly seems to be working.

In short, whether or not those in power actually worked to impose this state of affairs from the top down, the immense benefit that they (and no one else) derive from it makes it seem as if they did (or wish they had done so). I wish those who play into their hands would see this.
